Trump-Cohen situation is reminiscent of Nixon era, experts say – Business Insider

There is a very Fringe theory out there that we are all living in a giant simulation created by the Masters of the universe I guess, just like The Sims video game. It goes on to say that the pixels that we see in television screens and computer screens are actually a representation of our atoms. all that aside, if it’s true, they sure are playing with our heads.

memories of Watergate and it’s incredibly slow progression to the resignation of Nixon. All of the same arguments I’m hearing today were said in those days. Republicans stood by their man until their man was drowning and was about to take them down. But the turning point, and this is not an opinion it’s a fact, was the testimony of John Dean. If you look at a glass of President Nixon’s approval ratings right before John Dean testimony he was at 41%, sounds familiar? Pastor John Dean’s testimony live happens over the next year down to a 21% approval rating and I’d that point Republicans jumped ship.

So all the pundits out there giving their opinions is the only difference between now and Watergate. people may not remember but the evening news was only 15 minutes back then. It was expanded to a half-hour because of Watergate. And other than newspapers magazines it was very few other places one could get fresh information on what was happening. And then the hearing started and I like all of America were focus like a laser beam on the testimony of the various witnesses. In the end we all saw that Nixon was a crook, wire, and not a very nice man.

And then there’s the tapes. Nixon, I’m sure to his chagrin until his death, decided it would be a good idea to record everything that happened in the Oval Office. when people found out about the tapes they subpoenaed them and we waited, and waited, and waited and finally Supreme Court said turn over the fence. When the White House turned over to Pace there was the famous 18 minutes gas in the most relevant conversation in the Oval Office regarding Watergate. That was clearly seen as obstruction of justice. Nixon went down after that.

So here we are in 2019 reliving the nightmare of Watergate except this time we have 24 hours a day coverage of it hands a public spectacle by a man who has no regard for the office that he holds. I never liked Nixon, I remember the day that’s his victory was announced. I was in a classroom and Jane long Jr high School in Houston Texas. The boat was closed and the final outcome did not come until around 9 in the morning Houston time. And the announcement was made over the loudspeakers and you could hear a groan in the middle of the class. Texas was different back then. George h bush was our congressman, and my dad hated him. there was some civility in the discourse and our Representatives knew that they were working for the people. Today it seems that everyone is only catering to their base and not to the population they represent. I hope the pendulum swings and we come back to an error civility and our country’s government.

To get there we need the resignation or impeachment of Donald Trump and then we need to heal. I’m a member of an organization called better Angels, if you’re not you should become a member for their $10 fee. They are trying to bridge the size between the red and the blue and hopefully one day we’ll be back to being a purple or the Kaleidoscope of colors that we are.

Fox’s Cavuto to Trump: ‘That’s your stink. Mr. President, that’s your swamp.’ – Washington Post

I can hear all the naysayers already telling me is just one person on Fox News. It’s how a dam brakes, first there’s a crack and then a small Trickle and then it breaks open. I have watched this movie once before and it was called Nixon in Watergate. I heard all the pundits tell me that the Republican Party would never turn against him. Until they turned against him. And this Republican party will turn against this President once they get a decided loss in the midterms.

So yes, it’s only one Fox News host who has the gumption to speak out the truth but even if 1/10 of that audience believes it it’s a beginning and eventually the dam will break.
