Google is trying to eliminate misleading ads from anti-abortion clinics – The Verge

When Google started there mission statement said Do No Harm.

There are people who started off with Windows, like me, and have not been an Apple fan.there are people who have been in the Android ecosystem as opposed to the Apple One. I am firmly entrenched in the Android ecosystem.

Google has been criticized, and rightfully, that it’s algorithms will radicalized individuals. This is true because of how, especially YouTube, and it’s algorithm will start sending you what it thinks you would want to see again, to keep your eyes on the screen. I once looked up how to lubricate the seals in my Volkswagen convertible and I had nothing but those videos showing up in my suggestion list.so if someone looks up an Isis video for example, they will be fed Isis video after Isis video. Let me be clear that Google doesn’t have Isis videos on its site, or so it thinks, people are clever and they will hide their their intentions but the algorithm doesn’t see that. So if you see one hate video you will see thousands of them come up on your suggestion list.

What Google is doing here is requiring companies that are advertising abortion services to prove that they actually offer abortion Services. What has happened in the past is that so-called pro-life companies or individuals have said they are abortion providers and then when somebody clicks on their ad it takes you into that dark world trying to keep you from doing what you need to do to your own body.

I applaud Google for this and I hope other companies like Facebook and Amazon will start taking a more proactive approach when they accept advertising. I have gone on and on on my block about the fact that Facebook accepted Russian currency for ads against Hillary Clinton. Who did they think was buying these hats? That’s why I deleted Facebook over a year-and-a-half ago and I’ve never looked back.

The President just called the CEO of Apple ‘Tim Apple’ – The Verge

Whatever you want to call it, the president’s faculties are starting to look suspicious. He calls his National Security advisor John Bolton Michael Bolton, he missed writes his own wife’s name and calls her Melanie, he couldn’t even remember his chief of staff’s name General John Kelly. So calling the CEO of Apple whose name is pretty well known by everyone in the world Tim Apple is not just insulting but disturbing.

Burger King made a surprisingly good ad about net neutrality – The Verge

It’s both sad and hardening that Burger King understands net neutrality better than the people who are going to legislate about it. Net neutrality only is not good for big corporations who can pay to put themselves at the front of the line. Individuals like you and me will not to do well under net neutrality. Forces that have changed our politics with citizens united will have much more of a say on how we see and read our News. Net Neutrality must be defended at all cost.

Facebook’s startling new ambition is to shrink – The Verge

Last November I decided it was time to cut the cord with Facebook. Believe it or not I had extra time on my hands so I started walking around my neighborhood in downtown Los Angeles which then led to my going to the gym which then led to me watching what I ate. Well since November I have gone from 224 pounds to 190 today. I am bench pressing as much as I did when I was in my 30s and I am 63. I can’t say that leaving Facebook was the only reason but it was a beginning.

I think I’m not the only one who has decided that Facebook was not a place they wanted to frequent anymore. I have posted the article that I wrote on my blog when I left Facebook and deactivated my account on Twitter and it has been accessed a lot. I’m not sure if I’m going to go back to Facebook now that they’ve had this new revelation. I fear if I go back now they will just go back to their old ways. Hey, I’m not saying that I individually was the cost for this change in there trying to reach people through their social media platform. But just like cable companies are adjusting to people cutting the cord I think Facebook started noticing that people were deactivating their account.

Just in case you want to deactivate your account be ready for an onslaught of Facebook guilt. They will show you pictures of your friends that you are so called leaving behind. I reached out to all of those friends of mine who are on Facebook and told him that I wasn’t going to be there anymore but it didn’t mean that I did not want to stay in touch. Some have stayed in touch and some have not but that’s the price you have to pay to be confident in who are really your friends.

I’m not saying you’ll lose 35 lb but I know that you’ll have a lot more valuable time on your hands is if Facebook is not in your life. Spend that time with friends and family in the real world and I promise you you’ll be a happier person.
