My meanderings about politics, space exploration, cars, cats, tech things and whatever else strikes my fancy. To the current occupant of the White House, we will not be taken into war on anyone's leash.
After being on the roster for a speech on Monday night of the Democratic National Convention comma Elizabeth Warren is no longer on the speaking list. I doubt it’s because she has lost favor with Hillary Clinton. I think it’s because Hillary is truly considering her to be named her vice presidential running mate.
I know there are pros and cons to Elizabeth Warren on the ticket. But I think the pros outweigh the cons. She will solidify the progressive side of the democratic party for Hillary. And let’s face it we need the women’s vote to come out inforce. Donald Trump picking Mike Pence as his VP makes things quite clear two women. You’re not our priority is being yelled at women from the Republican ticket, in fact we want control of your body is what they’re saying. Reading tea leaves is not my forte butt if one were to guess Elizabeth Warren is still in the running for VP.
Better late than never. With the Republican convention starting next week it was due time for Senator Sanders to endorse Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Now let’s see how much he goes out on the campaign Trail for her. We need a really strong front to the Feats Donald Trump. I know what the polls are showing but it’s not going to be a cakewalk.
I watched the interview this morning on MSNBC and he did not endorse her but he also said he would do everything possible to make sure that Trump does not win the White House. And also on a more positive note he went further and said that “We Democrats need to win governorships, win-back Congress and steakhouses across the country.” I had never heard him say a term that was inclusive with him as being a Democrat. Look, Bernie Sanders is someone who has had the same positions since he was in his twenties. He says he has a small window of opportunity and he’s going to try to leverage that to the max. I believe that eventually he will endorse Hillary but I’m not sure that you’ll have the power to bring some of his more radical supporters into the fold. The latest poll shows that 22% of Sanders supporters want to vote for Trump. That makes no ideological sense. So if he can bring that number down and even if that 22% does not vote it still is a positive for Hillary’s campaign. AVB http://www.politico.com/story/2016/06/sanders-clinton-vote-224760
First Sanders did not endorse Hillary. Basically his whole speech was about give me give me give me and take take take. He wants to transform the Democratic Party from the Grassroots level. He wants it to be the Socialist Party. He promised to endorse Hillary after the primaries. Now he’s holding this over her head. I believe only his most Ardent supporters are going to be going along with him. Everyone else who were Democrats before this are going to switch now to Hillary. No one wants Trump in the White House and he’s doing nothing but facilitating it. Shame on Bernie Sanders. Any respect I had for him before this is now gone down the drain. Great reporting by The Washington Post. A behind the scenes of how today’s events unfolded. President Obama called Bernie Sanders on Sunday night and told him that he planned to endorse Hillary today. Senator Sanders asked that the President wait until after their meeting at the White House today. President Obama kept his word and a few minutes after Senator Sanders left the White House the video endorsement was released. The whole day was orchestrated as a show of Unity by the Democrats behind Hillary Clinton. With a couple of bumps along the road from Bernie Sanders we pretty much gave that show to the world. Bernie Sanders wants the chairmanship of the finance committee of the Senate. He knows he has to play ball with the Democrats and make sure that Hillary gets elected or those dreams go down the drain. Donald Trump is not going to be easy adversary. He is coming and he cheats and he’s willing to say almost anything for power. So what we see today is a week and Donald Trump who although bloodied is certainly not out of the race. He’s going to get money from all over the corporate Republican universe and mount a fierce campaign against Hillary. Here in California, where Hillary is basically a shoo-in, commercials have already started trying to change her. Now it’s time for the media to do their job and make sure that the truth goes out and they don’t follow him like some lost puppy. Of course Elizabeth Warren is going to endorse Hillary. I don’t think she’s going to be endorsing Donald Trump anytime soon. But I guess she needs to do this in a coordinated effort with Bernie Sanders so that she doesn’t look like the establishment and Sanders supporters who are changeable will move over to Hillary. If any of them go to Trump, I’m happy that he has them, they were never Democrats in the first place. AVB http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/09/politics/warren-2016-endorsement/
Is this really about Sanders or Trump? I think it may be that there are some hoodlums out there using this as a way of masquerading as supporters but who are truly criminals deep inside. When this country stops allowing political discourse, we have lost our country. Yes I know that these are individual cases. But I have been involved in politics for almost a half a century and I’ve never heard of this kind of behavior. What’s disturbing to me is not what is happening today but rather what we may see in four or eight years. Then the authorities may take matters into their own hands and then our freedoms start being taken away because a bunch of hoodlums are Behaving Badly right now. I do blame Senator Sanders and Donald Trump for not nipping this in the bud early on in this campaign. When Sanders struck out the part in his press release regarding the violence at the Democratic Nevada convention, the censorship was wrong. Violence should never be ignored or condoned by looking the other way. AVB http://www.cbsnews.com/news/female-journalists-report-harassment-from-bernie-sanders-supporters/
It should in actuality say in the headline “Bernie Sanders should exit the race”. I believe that Bernie Sanders is a patriot. I don’t think he would have gone through the gruel of running for president if you were not. And as a patriot he understands the enormity of having Donald Trump as our president and what it would do to take our country backwards. Let’s hope that he listens to his inner angels and especially tomorrow to President Obama who I’m sure will urge him to pull out of the race and throw his support wholeheartedly towards Hillary Clinton. It’s not easy losing a campaign. Hell I ran for neighborhood Council and the whole election process was 2 months long and I was disappointed when I lost. But I didn’t ask for a recall, I just took the loss and thought about all the wonderful people that I had met during the campaign. How many people in their sixties can say they stood in front of thousands and thousands of adoring young people yelling out their name. Bernie Sanders can say this and he should say it with his head held up high. So I hope that he will do the right thing and tomorrow after meeting with President Obama we’ll announce that he is suspending his campaign for the presidency of the United States.
