My meanderings about politics, space exploration, cars, cats, tech things and whatever else strikes my fancy. To the current occupant of the White House, we will not be taken into war on anyone's leash.
When I was a kid I used to read Superman comic books. Once in awhile Superman would end up in Bizarro world. Everything would be backwards. Does that sound familiar to what is happening today?
Senator McCain may be remembered as the last of the bipartisans. I did not agree with him on everything but I knew that he listens and wanted to try to come to some arrangement. The republicans in Congress now have one goal, to feed that insatiable thirst for more money so they can get reelected. Freshman Congressman arriving or told by their party that they need to forget about writing bills and instead they need to worry about running for congress again. The average Congressman spends 6 hours a day calling for donations to the very rich. I may be going out on the tension here but Senator McCain makes me want to get up on top of a hill and scream that we need reform in our politics. First and foremost we need to get big money out of politics, it’s what has created the swamp and it’s turning our whole country into one.
Frankly, I’m happy to do poll says that it isn’t a knockout. I hope it stays this way until the election. We don’t need complacency to take over the Democratic party. We don’t need people to think that we’re going to win and they don’t need to go out and vote. Let’s face it the Republican party has made it very difficult to go vote. Where do you only country in the world that votes on a Tuesday. And countries that vote during the week have that day off. We should be voting on Saturday and Sunday, but the Republicans would hate that because it would allow people who work to be able to go out and actually vote. Sure there’s absentee ballots but those numbers never are enough to swing an election.
We need to get this Orange Madness out of the white house before he gets us into a real war. The Republicans have shown that when they feel like they’re about to lose an election they start a war, usually an unnecessary one, remember Iraq?
Surprise, surprise, $5 or $15 a paycheck is not making a big splash with voters. I bet you the millions that the billionaires are getting is making a huge splash. Senator Kennedy from Louisiana, a republican, said that the latest omnibus budget was Congress peeing down the leg of the voters. I will go one step further the only thing that’s going to trickle down from this tax cut to the average individual will be urine.
The Saint of the Republican Party, Ronald Reagan, coined the term trickle down economics. It did not work then it does not work now it will not work. Rich people keep every penny they get a tax cut they don’t spend it. They may buy a new house but it won’t make a blip in the economy. Poor and middle class individuals basically spent almost everything they get in their paycheck and when they get money it’s spent and it makes the economy grow. It’s why the Democrats always give the Republicans a great economy to ruin.
To put this pole into consideration President Obama in 2012 only one Florida by 125000 votes. Let’s hope in the next 30 days this lead holds up. I’d be happy to win Florida for Hillary by the same margin as President Obama.
This morning I saw Paul Manafort, Trump’s campaign chairman, say that Independents are flocking to Trump, if this Washington Post/ABC News poll is to be believed, that is not the case. The problem for Trump is that the next few weeks people are going to be watching the Olympics and much of the coverage on television is going to be about the Olympics. This period allows people’s feelings to cement.
Interviews at his rallies shows that even his ardent supporters are starting to ask that he become more stable. The temperament issues is a very big thing with the American people and their leader. 3 months is a long time in politics but Trump is starting to fall quicker than anyone I’ve seen before.
Gallup polls used be the gold standard of polls. But their bias leaning towards the right has made them less relied upon. That being said this poll is from Gallup. I think it’s indicative of the fact that so-called establishment Republicans cannot stomach Donald Trump and what he is doing to their party. The Doom and Gloom convention that Trump has said was going to be his extravaganza was a total dud. It’s amazing now that it’s gotten bad reviews Trump said he had nothing to do with the production of the convention. Typical Trump lies. There’s an expression that says “the thief has the most locks on his door at home”. Donald Trump says that everyone lies because he lies more than anyone else.
In 4 days the Olympics begin. And hopefully they go without major disruptions. This will let the body politic think about what was said and then at these very well viewed conventions. That’s the point when people will cement their decisions on whom to vote for and I truly hope it’s Hillary Clinton.
I will say this many times before the elections. Polls this early mean nothing. But they feel good. That’s why I call them mental masturbation. I’ll say it again polls this really means nothing. I keep getting yelled at by people who don’t read my blog post and just see the headline on Facebook.
The American people are fickle. The GOP cheats. So poll numbers this early mean nothing to me. I watched that Senator Kerry who had a 17-point lead in early July lose the election to a man who forced us into the most unpopular war in our country’s history. I am heartened that there are 58% of Americans who have an extremely bad opinion of Donald Trump. Now it’s our job to keep them there. We cannot let these poll numbers fool us. We must donate, volunteer and talk to anyone who will listen that Hillary is the Right leader for our time and Donald Trump would be a disaster. The words High turnout scare the crap out of the GOP. High turnout is what translates into Los for the GOP. There is no comparison between Hillary and Trump. In November before the election Hillary’s favorables will have gone up and unless a pod person takes over Trump his will stay where they are. The 10 key States that will decide the election are all trending towards blue. Even States that were never In Contention like Georgia are showing that Trump has a lead of 1% well within the margin of error. We cannot take this election for granted but I don’t think we are going to take this election for granted. The thought of trump as president of United States makes me want to gag. If there were as many racists As Trump is betting on then President Obama would never have been elected in 2008 and then reelected in 2012.
