My meanderings about politics, LGBTQ COMMUNITY, space exploration, cars, cats, tech things and whatever else strikes my fancy. To the current occupant of the White House, we will not be taken into war on anyone's leash.
I don’t wish harm on anyone. But I hope that the first responders who show up at Rand Paul’s home if it catches on fire have a long discussion as to whether or not there’s enough money in the budget to offset the cost of fighting his fire.first responders came to the World trade Center site without even a moment of hesitation about their well-being. And yet this supposed doctor doesn’t even want to give them the benefit of what they have earned in their service to our country.
Have you ever bought something once you got home you realized you had been conned? Buyer’s remorse? I guess that’s what a lot of people who for some reason had a weird dislike for Hillary Clinton are feeling after two-and-a-half years of this presidency.
What’s surprising is the number of people willing to say this in public. MSNBC is littered with people including some of their anchors who were Republicans that I yelled at while they served under different in administrations who are now either Independents or straight up Democrats. I don’t think it’s just Trump. I think if you throw into the mix Mitch McConnell and the hypocrisy of a lot of leaders in Congress like Lindsey Graham and Ted Cruz you see why people are having their come to Jesus moment.
Trump is a con man. What’s so funnythe word con man that Trump hates so much is becoming synonymous with him on Google searches. Good for yourself, do Trump con man as a search and see what happens.
Today Trump pulled back from the brink of war with Iran. I think he finally realized that he has calmed himself into the presidency and I don’t think he wants that job anymore. Maybe that’s why he is making so many errors including all of these undisciplined interviews across what he called fake news media networks.
Is the Republican party Doom to be on the junk pile of History? Can’t say that. Americans have very short memories case in point is how they are looking with nostalgia upon George HW Bush and his presidency even though he took us into an unnecessary war and was the cause of a near world depression. You put him next to Trump and he looks great.
I’m hoping that this man is not re-elected but until I watch him leave the White House I won’t believe anything about what people are prognosticating.
The problem with the United States is that we have been lulled into a sense of security by Presidents who, even those like Richard Nixon, followed ethics recommendations. The Hatch act was written into law in 1939 and basically says that anyone who is a paid member of an Administration other than the President, vice president and a couple of other people cannot use their position to promote their political views. This worked until Donald Trump. So when you have a President that brings in his daughter and son-in-law into the White House and has his campaign adviser and/or campaign pollster working in the White House one would expect that an act that has no teeth would not work. Basically the Hatch Act expected that the President would follow ethics rules. That obviously doesn’t work with this man he has not a single bit of ethics and his DNA. So it’s a useless act right now and with a person like Mitch McConnell in the Senate don’t expect it to have any teeth anytime soon. This is is sad for those seeing the headlines would seem to make people feel like something is being done but in actuality nothing can be done because it has to come from the Oval Office and he’s not going to fire or reprimand or anything his daughter, the daughter that he seems to have weird feelings for.
Oh by the way if Tiffany were in the job maybe the Hatch Act would work.
I’ve been communicating with one of my best friends today telling him that it’s becoming someone disheartening to see this President and his actions. He’s out there in the open, figuratively shooting someone on 5th Avenue.
What is more upsetting to me take the fact of the Republican Party anyway it’s leaders, say they’re okay with it. I keep thinking of this scenario. Let’s say, Norway, comes up to Joe Biden and says “Hey we’ve got information on Donald Trump, want it? All things being equal other than having a body buried somewhere in the White House this President seems to be immune from bad information about him. But in the future, hopefully we’ll have another president whose last name is not Trump, I wonder how the Republicans defending this President and his words yesterday would feel?
I’ve been a lifelong Democrat but there has been Republicans that I have admired. But when Mitch McConnell if his swarthy face says that if one of theSupreme Court justices passes away next year would he replaced at Justice unlike what he did was Merrick Garland, he says yes. So as far as I’m concerned the Republican party or the party of trump is morally bankrupt and yes we need a conservative voice but one that respect the laws of our country and are not blatant hypocrites.
Until I am proven wrong, I feel very pessimistic about the future of our country and especially the democracy our forefathers envisioned us for us. I pray to the universe that I am wrong
Threatening to veto a bill is how this corrupt White House makes sure that the turtle, Mitch McConnell doesn’t bring a bill to the floor of the Senate. Mitch McConnell’s application of the power of congress is unprecedented. basically says he won’t bring a bill to the floor of the Senate that the president is going to veto. What the hell?
As the power of the NRA wins I don’t understand the reasoning behind not wanting something that even 72% of NRA members want. We’re not talking about banning weapons. We’re not talking about taking people’s guns away. We’re talking about making sure that people who should not have guns don’t get them. Do we let everyone wants to drive a car drive a car? No. It’s common sense.
Hence the term common Sense gun control.
The blood of the 45,000 people who die each year from gun violence in our country and especially that of the children and the unarmed women is on the hands of the man in the White House and his turtle.
The more I hear him speak the more I like him. I have made itclear on this blog that I find him an appealing candidate. Look he’s got the chops. Served two tours of duty in Afghanistan, a Rhodes scholar which is a difficult thing to do and was one of Bill Clinton’s achievements, and he’s gay and married to a husband. I’m gay makes me proud to have someone who’s actually being talked about running for president. My friend Fred Kargar ran for president in 2016. He did not get as noticed as mayor Pete is right now.
I’ve donated to this campaign but I’ve also donated to comella Harris his campaign. I think that would make a great ticket. Is America ready for a gay president? was America ready for a black one? And yet he was re-elected twice. I don’t think that’s the issue. He’s young but he runs a city that has a 385 million dollar budget and 1000 employees. How many senators have had that experience over the last 8 years? As a matter of fact does the person that’s currently residing in the White House have this kind of experience, no, and it shows.
Republicans should love him, they are the ones who have been packing the courts for the last 40 years with their activist judges. remember how they used to talk about Democratic activist judges and how they no longer say that word anymore because they’re the ones doing it?
I wish Mayor Pete all of the best luck on his runand look forward to seeing him on the debate stage. If you get a chance go to his sight and donate some money. His site is:
The Republican party has taken an unending March into moral depravity. When you hear evengelical leaders defend a sitting president having an affair with a pornstar by saying we don’t have a perfect president you know there’s something wrong with their values. What happened to the party of moral values? I can give you one main answer, Mitch McConnell. Mitch McConnell has been the architect of so many underhanded deals including stonewalling President Obama and his nominee to be a Supreme Court Justice. Changing the rules of the Senate at his whim. And yes, the Democratic party has not been there to defend us as well as they should. I know the Democrats love to say when they go low we go high but at this point I wonder whether or not we are being too nice.
I hope that the Republicans in the country will understand that this is a terrible path for our country. They are ignoring an attack by the Russians on our electoral system for their own political gain. This idea of fake news is disgusting to me. Attacking our judicial system and the agencies that protect us like the FBI and the justice department is intolerable. We must say enough is enough.
I applaud Susan Collins for standing up to Mitch McConnell. But I am not perplexed as to why Mitch McConnell is blocking President Obama’s choice for the Supreme Court. Mitch McConnell has said from the beginning of the Obama Administration he will obstruct, obstruct, and obstruct. So this is just the latest of his crippling our nation. In fact today the Supreme Court had to rule again for the for this time I’m sure to the unhappiness of the GOP establishment as they left standing a decision favoring labor unions. President Obama could not have found a more Centrist judge has Judge Garland. To be honest I would have like to seen someone younger and more Progressive but President Obama knew the lay of the land in Congress and pick someone they could not refuse. But these are obstructionists and they refuse everything. AVB http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2016/03/29/3764297/susan-collins-merrick-garland-mitch-mcconnell/

If there were a Thurmond Rule, and I must believe Mitch McConnell when he says that there is no such thing. If there were such a rule that says that a president in the last 6 months of his presidency should not make lifetime appointments. That would be July 21st 2016 for President Obama. But again there is no such thing as the Thurmond rule and so therefore Mitch McConnell doesn’t have a leg to stand on. Or you should watch this video of himself. I’m sure he wishes there were a time machine right now so he could go back to 2008 and fix this mess he has made. AVB
