My meanderings about politics, LGBTQ COMMUNITY, space exploration, cars, cats, tech things and whatever else strikes my fancy. To the current occupant of the White House, we will not be taken into war on anyone's leash.
If there was only one piece of bad news that we got from Tuesday’s elections it was that the African American vote was suppressed. They didn’t have a reason to come out to vote and they did not. We need to have candidates that will spark their Joy.
If there’s ever been a boy scout in American politics is Eric Holder. Has the attorney general for President Obama he oversaw the Department of Justice that actually did Justice. We saw rights being bestowed upon people that have been forgotten, the trans community, native Americans, African Americans, Asian Americans, people of all religions and foremost the American people.
since leaving his job at the Department of Justice he’s been spearheading a drive to end gerrymandering in the US. He and President Obama have been working diligently to turn back the tide on gerrymandering even if it means the Democrats may lose some seats. Unless are congressional districts are drawn fairly people will loose faith in our system of government.
I hope it Atourney General holder does run because he is exactly the kind of man we need to heal our country.
I guess I may have been one of the people that was spied on. I have been very very critical of the crown Prince MBS who ordered the murder of Washington Post reporter an American resident khashoggi. This murder was allegedly greenlit by Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. This is indicative of why the United States of America should not be in bed with Saudi Arabia. they no longer hold oil over our heads so why are we still so close to a regime that murders and tortures there citizenry. One can be stoned by the Saudi regime for being gay. I always thought being stoned was people throwing rocks at you. Nope that’s not it. They dig a pit they put you in it and they slowly lower weights on top of you slowly crushing you to death. This is the government that we are friendly with.
Sure governments, even friendly ones, spy on each other. But using spies within an organization like Twitter to get information on Americans, individual American citizens is beyond the pale.
I posted a positive remark on Twitter about mayor Pete and one of the people who I liked on Twitter responded that he was too inexperienced and too young. I responded back by asking if they knew how many people the typical Senator overseas in their offices. The number is maxed out in about 30. Peter overseas 1,500 employees in the city of South bend. I then asked what foreign policy experience do governors get ? Not very much and yet President Clinton, who was the governor of Arkansas, had one of the best foreign policy records in our history.
Let’s get to the age thing. I’m 65 and I think that my generation has screwed everything up pretty badly and it’s time to let those who are going to have to fix the problems get a chance to have their say. Mayor Pete is exactly that kind of person. We need people running for president or going to make young people feel like this is not the same old stuff. I like Elizabeth Warren and she would make a great president but her age is an issue with me. I think Joe Biden has lost his chance and Bernie Sanders is not a Democrat.
One last interesting thing, latest polls show that more than 50% of American people would be okay with a gay president.
So Mayor Pete is my choice right now and his showing in Iowa is speaking much louder than my little post on this little blog.
There is a two prong approach to removing this person from our body politic. First she needs to drop out of the race and promise not to run as an independent or third-party candidate. This will be the acid test because she will refuse to do so.
The second prong is to have her voted out of Congress. To that end I have donated and I hope you will donate to her Challenger. Click on the link below:
Hillary Clinton is not one for hyperbole. She saw a problem and she pointed to it forcefully and said we need to get rid of it. Tulsi gabbard is being groomed to wrap our elections in 2020 by the Russian government and if anybody doesn’t believe that then somebody asked her why she refuses to renounce anything Russian. She’s not a patriot she’s a mole.
One more thing, a homophobe is always a homophobe.
I really like mayor Pete Buttigieg. young, intelligent, charismatic and everything that would make a perfect president. You know there’s a but coming.
I have two issues fat mayor Pete confronts him and they are related. He is openly gay and has a big problem with the African-American community.
it’s hard to change stereotypes in people’s minds, especially the kind of stereotype that is Grand into your head every Sunday at church. I remember that wonderful evening in November 2008 when President Obama won the election when nobody thought he would. That happiness was dashed by the passing a proposition 8, Yan Tai chi marriage proposition here in California. People have been reluctant to say why that got past but I have a feeling the high African-American turnout had much to do with it. Again it’s hard to break stereotypes, especially those from then to your head by your preacher.
I support mayor Pete, I’ve given him money for his campaign but I’ve done so a couple of other candidates as well. I think the stumble this summer with the problems in South Bend with the police chief have done some damage to his campaign. Is it repairable, sure, everything is repairable in politics. I just don’t think that’s the Democrats are going to take the chance of nominating an openly gay man who does not have great African-American support.
I have to train of thoughts that come to mind about this story.
it’s amazing how many homophobes are actually closeted gay men. I truly hope that Erik Erikson is not gay because that would be a giant hard off. That being said people that continuously talk about Calder people’s sexuality need.. I believe we’re in the 21st century. perhaps Erik Erikson should be sent in a time capsule back to where he belongs somewhere around the 1780s maybe, France. I think he would do really well during the French revolution.
I have a comment is the fact that I am so so tired of reading that women who are running for public officeare criticized for being too short or loud or whatever. The same people who complained about Elizabeth Warren being too abrasive said nothing about Bernie Sanders who was standing on the very same debate stage actually right next to her. I am tired of hearing how women dress and how that should affect whether or not we’re going to vote for them. I remember in 2016 when Hillary Clinton wore the beautiful yellow outfit and people compared her to a banana. Nobody talks about the fact that Trump tie goes down to his nice and that Bernie Sanders doesn’t dress very well but for some reason women are right in the bullseye of the Fashion Police.
Erik Erikson and men in general stop criticizing those who don’t conform to your ideas of what’s right or wrong because your ideas are so antiquated it is sad.
I read what the historians say in the article and I find it preposterous. Basically they claim that MD 18th and 19th century there were confirmed bachelors who had sexual relationships with men but the historians say they were not gay! I think we’re dealing with semantics here because the word gay came out after Stonewall but homosexuality, pansies and the other slurs that were used in those time periods were aimed specifically at the people we now call gay.
Mayor Pete says that the odds are we had a gay president in the past. We’ve had 45 presidents and approximately 4.5% of the population identify themselves as gay. You do the math.
Historians like history to stay etched in stone and so therefore I think that they may be close-minded to what is a pretty obvious tell in a couple of our presidents intimate lives. I’m not going to be here outing any president and nor did mayor Pete, I think it was the historians who did it in the article.
Two months ago most of us would have been shocked to find out that one of the main cities in Indiana had a gay mayor. Two months ago most of us did not know who Peter Buttigieg was. And here we are.
So far in this presidential season I have given money to two candidates, Kamala Harris my Senator and Peter Buttigieg. I thought I’d be up front about that right off the bat.
In this age of Russian trolls or Chinese trolls or Iranian trolls we need to be careful who we think we’re hearing information from. Oppo research is going to be released not just by opposing candidates but from other countries now. I believe that it is the goal of those who want to destroy the American system to spread as much mis-information as possible.
I have not made it a secret on my blog that I am a gay man. So sure I was intrigued and somewhat scared to hear there was a gay man running for President. But then I heard him speak and I tried to remove the filter of my being gay as well and I was truly impressed by this 37 year old man. His resume is amazing. He is taken South bend Indiana from the brink of bankruptcy to a thriving City. He has a budget of 385 million dollars and overseas a staff of a thousand within the city. I don’t know how many senators that can claim the same. He served two tours of duty in Afghanistan. He’s a Rhodes scholar, went to Harvard and seems to have his head firmly placed upon his shoulders.
So let the naysayers be naysayers but Democrats stop acting like we are each other’s enemies. sure I say never Brownie and not because I don’t like Bernie Sanders so much but because I truly believe he could quickly and easily lose to the present occupant of the White House and that scares me because I don’t know whether or not our country can survive another four years of this madman.
Honestly when I saw the report yesterday that Google had not removed this hateful app from its ecosystem I was very very disappointed. I thought that Google’s motto was Do no harm. I went to the Google play Store and reported the app for the many violations that it commits. It turns out Google did listen to the lgbtqi community and did the right thing. At the end of the day hatred of others it’s not something that as humans we should strive for. Instead being welcoming to everyone is how humanity will prosper.
I find it so ironic that when one of these anti-gay individuals finds out that they have a son or daughter that is gay there way of looking at things turn around. you would think that these people that espoused religious beliefs would understand that we are all God’s children. so thank you Google for doing the right thing, albeit a little late.
I beg to differ with vice president Joe Biden and his assessment of Mike Pence being a decent guy. Decent people do not point out groups of individuals for hatred and discrimination. under his regime in Indiana the lgbtqi community suffered greatly. He and his wife believe in trying to cure homosexuals from their homosexuality. That is absurd. It’s just a political ploy to give himself more power. He’s not a decent man and anyone who thinks he is is not worthy to be the President of the United States.
And this is something that seems to be forgotten by the media. When Chris Christie was fired from the Trump transition Mike Pence took over. Mike Pence was there and he said nothing about all the Russians that were running around the transition. He said nothing about the hundred and fifty Russians at the inaugural. He said nothing because he knew what was going on and he is just as crooked as Trump.
