My meanderings about politics, LGBTQ COMMUNITY, space exploration, cars, cats, tech things and whatever else strikes my fancy. To the current occupant of the White House, we will not be taken into war on anyone's leash.
Fun fact: the US Treasury has spent more money bailing out farmers, by the way they were doing just fine before the tRUMP tariffs, then we spent all together bailing out the Auto industry after the great recession. It’s so funny how these fiscal conservatives have turned into Rupublicans. Trump blew his wad today by lowering interest rates or in any case forcing the fan to do so. unfortunately you can’t have negative interest rates so if the economy takes a downturn during the election year which people are saying every word that it is, there are very few things that Trump can do. Most of the things that Trump can do will require Nancy Pelosi and I’m not sure if she’s going to be of that appetite. And who knows, by the time we got to that point and maybe president pence in office. President Pence won’t like having an economy in free-fall trying to get himself elected to a first term.
It’s ironic that the GOP rewrote the rules for impeachment and now are not happy that those rules are being followed. The guy who was the lead prosecutor in the Clinton impeachment, Congressman Lindsey Graham, is now Senator Lindsey Graham who doesn’t seem to remember anything he’s said back then. He had a brief, all to fleeting moment of clarity when he did say not answering subpoenas from Congress was impeachable but then later on I forgot he said it. but Mitch McConnell is the one that I’m watching. Mitch McConnell is a survivor and he’s never liked from. He’s starting to show his cards. Last week he was asked about whether or not he had sad that the Ukrainian call was perfect because Trump said he had said that. Mitch McConnell said he didn’t remember any conversation about the Ukrainian call with Trump. When he was pressed on it he repeated that. In private he is told the Republican members of the Senate that there is going to be an impeachment trial. Mitch McConnell’s approval ratings in Kentucky are at 14%. He’s got a formidable democratic rival and I think he’s going to try to make himself look like the hero of the story and remove Trump from office. There’s an expression in French that says “who will live will see”.
There is a two prong approach to removing this person from our body politic. First she needs to drop out of the race and promise not to run as an independent or third-party candidate. This will be the acid test because she will refuse to do so.
The second prong is to have her voted out of Congress. To that end I have donated and I hope you will donate to her Challenger. Click on the link below:
Hillary Clinton is not one for hyperbole. She saw a problem and she pointed to it forcefully and said we need to get rid of it. Tulsi gabbard is being groomed to wrap our elections in 2020 by the Russian government and if anybody doesn’t believe that then somebody asked her why she refuses to renounce anything Russian. She’s not a patriot she’s a mole.
One more thing, a homophobe is always a homophobe.
The past couple of weeks have been I think the most disturbing ones of the current administration. Between Sharpie gate and the firing of John Bolton or as the president likes a column Michael Bolton, or the fact that the Trump administration stifled the FBI investigating Brett Kavanaugh this all adds up to a breakdown of government. Today Corey Lewandowski thumbed his nose at the house judiciary committee. It’s getting old to play the what if Obama did game. I was just talking to one of my best friends John and we were half laughing about the fact that Sean Spicer appeared in the same outfit that Rick Perry did on Dancing with the Stars. I asked them how come there have been no former Obama administration officials on Dancing with the Stars and he correctly said they don’t need to be rehabilitated in the eyes of the public. I guess if you dance like a fool on Dancing with the Stars you get to become the person in charge of our nuclear Arsenal.
For a man who doesn’t pay his attorneys Trump sure has a bunch of good ones right now. They have done everything possible to Stonewall investigation from Congress. I am tired of hearing pundits on television complaining about the Democrats and how slow they’ve been on the impeachment front. I know time has lost its meaning chewing this Trump era but let’s not forget that the Democrats have had control of the house only 8 months ! You listen to these people and makes it sound that the Democrats have been around with the subpoena power forever. 9 months ago the head of judiciary committee wasn’t Republican and the head of the intelligence committee who is now suing a fictitious cow, Devin Nunez was the head of the intelligence committee. Let’s not forget that time seems to have lost its way during the Trump era.
Yes he’s dangerous and yes I think the American people know it and I truly believe that they will come out and vote I’m out of office. Whether or not he leaves office it’s something and I fear keeps me up at night, he seems to have the military in his back pocket like most dictators and how he has the justice department and the judges and slowly like a creeping virus he’s been able to embed himself, with the help of Moscow Mitch, into the fabric of our government in a way no other president has been able to do.
I have used recreational chemicals in the past, that’s no secret. I am lucky though I never got addicted to anything. That being said I have been affected by the opioid crisis.
One of my best friends of 39 years became addicted while I was living in a different city and I knew nothing about it. When I returned to my so-called hometown it became obvious that I was meant to be as his ATM machine. I just thought that’s the recession had hit him hard and whenever he asked for money I would give it to him if I could.
It wasn’t until after my assault that I found out that in fact he was addicted to heroin. I feel so sorry for him and his family. I remember him telling me that he had gone skiing in Aspen and it hurt his knee. He never talked about it again. Turns out it’s the same old story oh, he was giving opioids and when the supply was cut off he went on to heroin.
Peter Buttigieg is a refreshing change from the politics of today. He is bright, charismatic, intelligent and most importantly he does not seem erratic. We have this creature in the White House. Has taken over our lives I think we need somebody like Peter to calm everything down. Look, I like Joe Biden but Joe Biden is too old. I like Elizabeth Warren but she’s going to be painted as a socialist. Kamala Harris hasn’t taken off and Amy klobuchar just doesn’t seem to have the temperament.
At the end of the day I hope and pray that Peter will be our nominee and I think he can take us to the finish line. We need to end this nightmare.
We have to accept what the author of this article says. It’s evidence on a daily basis as we wake up every morning to see what else this man has done to our country. I love his analogy where he says if you’re driving a car that has smoke coming out from under the hood and oil dripping down onto the pavement you don’t have to be a mechanic to know that there is something wrong with the car. There is something wrong with Trump.
This is how the article describes Trump:
I think he is temperamentally unfit to be president. I think he’s erratic, I think he’s unprincipled, I think he’s unstable, and I think that he has a personality disorder; I think he’s obsessive. And at the end of the day, having served in the White House for seven years in three administrations and worked for three presidents, one closely, and read a lot of history, I think the main requirement for president of the United States … is temperament, and disposition … whether you have wisdom and judgment and prudence.”
He’s followed the dictator handbook very closely and has surrounded himself with sycophants who would never think of using the Escape valve called the 25th amendment. Also with Mitch McConnell in the helm of the Senate impeachment is a non-starter. I just hope and pray that if he does get elected the Democrats schedule hold of the Senate and keep him in check because, if not, I don’t know will recognize our country in 2024.
If 2016 has taught us anything it is that we need to reform our system of electing officials especially those on the federal level.
Unfortunately the Federal election commission is not the vehicle we need to reform our election system. It was never meant to do anything other than to whitewash problems and make them go away. It’s a toothless agency that has minimal enforcement capabilities. So the uproar this week over the fact that they no longer have a quorum to even have a meeting seems like it could be the beginning of the end but in this case it’s the beginning of the beginning. I’ve watched the chairwoman of the federal election committee go on and on on all the text shows saying that they still have staff doing the behind the scenes work necessary to maintain election integrity. Unfortunately all of this means nothing.
let’s dissect how this Federal election commission works. First the President appoints the members from both parties. That should put a giant wait a minute in your head when I said that. Yes Trump would have to appoint a democratic member to the commission. But even if there is a fork or they have very few ways of impacting a candidate that does wrong other than through fines. They can’t overturn an election results because of malfeasance has we saw in the North Carolina examples. Only the state level was able to do anything in that case. Plus when members are appointed by a president and then have to be confirmed by the Senate you’ve got too many people whose Faith’s are on the line making the decisions on who is going to be on this commission. This whole system needs an overhaul.
We’ve always hoped that the courts would be protection for our election system. Unfortunately the courts are now being spent by Mitch McConnell and I don’t see how we are going to have affair jurisprudence system for a generation since the people than Mitch McConnell or putting in or middle-aged and have lifetime appointments. Removing a judge is difficult and because they are Judges they have the power to make things go away.
I don’t think that either the Democrats or the Republicans have the backbone to reform this broken system. The only way they would be reformed is if there is a worst-case scenario but unfortunately if there is a worst-case scenario I can’t trust that the power will still be in the hands of the people and then our country might be changed forever.
First some positive thoughts about Representative Steve King
Well, after that lively discussion of Steve King’s positive aspects, let’s go on to the negative.
He’s a racist
He is a white supremacist
He thinks that incest and rape created Western Civilization
He does not have positive views towards minorities and immigrants
His last Town Hall had only one person in attendance
Which brings me to why the GOP is running to the exits regarding this man. He’s exactly the kind of guy that on the ticket would help the Democrats in his Congressional district. And I’m talking about the Democrat on the top of the ticket. So don’t think that the Republicans have all found some sort of come to Jesus moment with him. They are far more calculating and this is transactional. He is like a drowning man who will take anyone he can with him as he drowns.
This is not a GOP profile in courage it’s the GOP turning on one of their own with views similar to the man at the top.
Nobody in the Trump administration better represents the destruction of norms by this administration than Kellyanne Conway. That’s not hyperbole. She is a paid employee of the federal government. Yes, she is meant to give advice and counsel to a man who obviously doesn’t listen to anybody but himself. but she’s not meant to be the propaganda Minister for Trump and yet that’s exactly what she does on a daily basis.
Others in other administrations have had a similar position but none of them have ever taken up the mantle of lies like Kellyanne. Her lies come out as easily as her breath. She distorts truth and outright lies about it all the time. This is an administration that doesn’t have any real laurels to lay on its proverbial head. Sure they’ve got them too supreme Court justices who are most likely going to overturn Roe v Wade and they have brought in a slew of other judges more than prison Obama did in his whole eight years because of Moscow Mich. They gave a big tax cut to the rich and the rich are giving them their support.
It’s funny how Trump said today that the people of the United States are rich because of him. today I went to the grocery store and my checkout lady, Bertha, told me that at night the only thing they do is raise prices on everything because of the tariffs. this is heading home to everyone and if Trump who never has to buy a single thing for his fat body thinks that we are all rich perhaps the same kind of Rich that bankrupted him and all the businesses that he has failed in.
Infrequently onphone Town Hall meetings with my congressman Jimmy Gomez. Once I had the opportunity to ask him a question about funding for California. he told me that the republicans in Congress have a saying, ABC, anybody but California. So the largest state in the Union by population is systematically being ignored by the federal government.
Now the supposed leader of our country is going to two states that he needs to win re-election but is skipping over coming to Gilroy California after the equally horrific shooting there. I read that two of the survivors of the Gilroy massacre we’re also survivors of the Las Vegas one. They met on a Facebook support group for survivors of mass shootings. It’s amazing that we have to have Facebook groups for survivors of mass shootings. So once again Trump ignores California. He’s quite happy to come here to suck money out of his Republican billionaires but to help the state and anyway, no. although I have to say that he did say that we should be raking the forest so that we would not have any more forest fires. Helpful information like that is his Hallmark.
You’re either the president of everyone oh you’re not a legitimate president. To me Trump is not a legitimate president I like he’s a racist, xenophobe and a white nationalist. This is in a country that is becoming more and more a rainbow of wonderful humans.
I have blocked Trump on Twitter. I don’t need to see his unhinged rantings. we have enough stress in our lives without having to deal with this man. If I need to send a message to him I use the @POTUS address which I hope he will lose on January 21st 2021.
Block clean up on Twitter is making everyone lose followers. They weren’t really people and it seems that this egotistical Maniac in the White House believes that he is light because Russian bots are following him. Twitter is removing these bots and slowly but surely his numbers are dwindling. plus I think that this quote from the article from quarts makes the point best:
Perhaps if this man wasn’t a raving lunatic he would keep his Twitter followers. But honestly if any other president had openly talked about the fact that he’s losing Twitter followers we were all laughing at him or her. I have yet to hear a single member of the democratic party running for president talk about their Twitter followers.
