‘It Didn’t Have to Be This Way’: Just-Retired CENTCOM General – The Atlantic

The United States and especially the U.S. foreign policy is unrecognizable under Trump. We put tariffs on our allies and snuggle up to dictators that have always been our enemies. So what’s breaking news tonight that turkey is mounting an offensive against the Kurds with Russia. Yes the third-rate power that Russia has become is being propped up by Turkey. Russia really needs Syria because Russia has very few ports that they can put their Navy into. And the sacrificial lambs are our allies the Kurds.

it will take years to repair the damage that Trump has done to the United States and its Mission across the world. Look, I’ve never been a big fan of the u.s. being the policeman of the world but somebody had to do it, especially after the fall of the Soviet Union. But a complete capitulation to the Russian federation whose economy is 29th in the world, just to give you an example, if California were a stand-alone country it would have the 5th largest economy. Putin has used asymmetrical weapons against us. He is holding our president hostage because of the help that he gave Trump and getting himself the narrow electoral college win with 78,000 votes. Trump actually has a doctored electoral college map in the white house showing him winning more districts and he actually did. This is a cult of one and Trump will do anything to hold on to power and will do anything to the bidding of Putin.

There’s one more fly in the ointment of this story. The Kurdish forces have approximately 10 to 20,000 Isis prisoners in their midst. What happens when these people are glad loose? Do you really think their anger against us has disappeared while they’ve been prisoners?

Trump is throwing everyone under the bus but doing it to the Kurds amounts to genocide. If the Kurds looked like Norwegians Trump would not be doing this.

McMaster and Commander, Trump “wasn’t absorbing a fucking thing he said,” – The New Yorker

When Trump took over the presidency the National Security Council wrote talking points for when the president would speak to foreign leaders. These were varied and had lots of detail. These are the same that have been written for presidents for decades. After a few weeks advisors to the president said that these were too much, he’s more of a visual guy, he needed more pictures.

So basically we have a president who wants to run the country with comic books or at best a graphic novel as his briefing documents. I have not used the I word before in this blog but I think it’s time for impeachment. Actually I know it’s time for impeachment and if this Congress was not run by spineless and unpatriotic Republicans impeachment would be started. You would think it would be in their best interest to get rid of this stain and get someone who might get reelected like Mike Pence.

I don’t like Mike Pence and especially his anti-gay rhetoric but bad is better than crazy. And that’s a sad state that our country is in.

RealClearPolitics – Latest General Election: Trump vs. Clinton

I will preface this by saying the old adage that “a week in politics is like a year in real life”. That being said and how well the electorate knows both these candidates makes that rule a little bit less hard and fast. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have been on the world stage now for 35 years. So I think that barring some unexpected Revelations or some threat to our country these numbers are going to stay pretty much where they are. I could be proved wrong but my gut instinct says that Hillary is going to win and win by a substantial margin. She’s coming within the margin of error in Georgia to Trump. That’s unprecedented, Georgia has been a red state for ever now.

For Clinton, the general election is about married women. Starting in swing-state Virginia. Washington Post

This is an interesting demographic to go and try to recruit to Hillary’s campaign. They are engaged, they vote, and they care about the future for their children and Families. Donald Trump does not make you feel good about the future. His inconsistent policies and his complete lack of knowledge of how the world works is very obvious to those who are well educated. For example he thinks that if we want a more stable world we need a strong ambassador to the UN. That would be interesting except the UN has absolutely no power. Unless Donald Trump wants the US to cede its power to the general counsel something that would not be a good idea. Being a good businessman and being a good president have different skill sets. Now first of all I am not saying that Donald Trump is a good businessman. He keeps saying that he’s so successful because he has all of these shiny towers named after him. In fact many of those are just license agreements where he doesn’t own the buildings at all. Secondly the way one interacts and government and with foreign governments is completely different than the way one interacts in business. I think that we are going to turn red States blue all over the map in November. Hillary Clinton is going to be the 45th president of the United States if nothing drastic changes between now and November.
