My meanderings about politics, LGBTQ COMMUNITY, space exploration, cars, cats, tech things and whatever else strikes my fancy. To the current occupant of the White House, we will not be taken into war on anyone's leash.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was the only Republican I have ever voted for. I regretted doing it but I thought he was a different kind of Republican. In office he was not. but out of office he is taking on a different persona. Gone is the guy who built a tent in front of the state house so he could smoke his cigars and instead he is the guy sticking daggers into the bull coming out of the White House.
I have a conundrum. I know that’s Trump is hiding something in his tax returns but the Democrats in the house are mounting what seems like a half-hearted way of trying to get them. Are they afraid that they are going to show nothing wrong? Come on this man worked real estate in New York for umpteen years there are going to be skeletons and that proverbial tax returns closet. so why are the Democrats not pushing as hard as they should? I’ll let my readers comment on that.
When Donald Trump jr. Was told that Russia wanted to give him a dirt on Hillary Clinton he said that he loved it especially this summer referring to the summer of 2016. You would think this idiot would have learned his lesson. But he has not. The first breath of birtherism around Kamala Harris and he jumps to attention. Retweeting the false allegations that the native of Oakland California is not an American.
If you thought that Trump’s birtherism was just political theater think again, it’s racism that has been demonstrated in generations of the trumps. I can only hope and pray that Barron Trump will not inherit the racist gene but I’m not too sure.
I wonder how long this Trump appointee has left in his job. I wonder what sort of absolute immunity Trump is going to say this man has. He doesn’t have any, let’s cut to the chase.
The epitome of an oxymoron is Trump ethics. This is the most unethical White House we’ve ever had and I’m including Richard Nixon in this mix. sure Nixon did some terrible things and I was very happy to see him resign but compared to what this administration is doing Nixon was an angel.
We have members of the justice department testifying in front of three federal judges telling them that young children don’t need soap, toothbrushes or any kind of toiletries while they’re in the care of the US government. Nicole Wallace on her show today said that if a president of the United States we’re going to a country that did this to asylum seekers the president would cancel the visit. Trump is leaving for the G20 and I hope he is ostracized. Of course Putin is going to come and get his briefing but I hope that the leaders of the Allies at the G20 will tweet Trump to why he should be treated, like a war criminal.
As far as Kellyanne Conway is concerned you have to wonder what is in her head. Lust for power? wanted to be next to the so-called leader of the Free world? I don’t understand and this comedy routine between her and her husband his even more baffling. May she go away and never be seen again on the public arena.
The problem with the United States is that we have been lulled into a sense of security by Presidents who, even those like Richard Nixon, followed ethics recommendations. The Hatch act was written into law in 1939 and basically says that anyone who is a paid member of an Administration other than the President, vice president and a couple of other people cannot use their position to promote their political views. This worked until Donald Trump. So when you have a President that brings in his daughter and son-in-law into the White House and has his campaign adviser and/or campaign pollster working in the White House one would expect that an act that has no teeth would not work. Basically the Hatch Act expected that the President would follow ethics rules. That obviously doesn’t work with this man he has not a single bit of ethics and his DNA. So it’s a useless act right now and with a person like Mitch McConnell in the Senate don’t expect it to have any teeth anytime soon. This is is sad for those seeing the headlines would seem to make people feel like something is being done but in actuality nothing can be done because it has to come from the Oval Office and he’s not going to fire or reprimand or anything his daughter, the daughter that he seems to have weird feelings for.
Oh by the way if Tiffany were in the job maybe the Hatch Act would work.
I love the backstory in this article from NPR. His parents are both immigrants from the Middle East. I guess Trump would call them Shit-hole adjacent countries, I call them countries.his work ethic is uncompromised. Even as a child he would not go out and play with his friends until he finished his homework. That ended up making him the valedictorian and he has excelled ever since. He’s very young to be in Congress, 39, compared to those old white men that permeate the Republican Party.
And now the Republican party is turning his back on him. But he is not flinching. I love this Twitter give and take what he had with Donald Trump jr.
If there is anything that we can take away, that we did not know already, from the George Stephanopoulos interview with Trump is that Trump talks like a mob boss. And so it is not out of character for his son to act like a mob boss also. Although both would be terrible, seriously if anybody watched The Sopranos, Goodfellas are The Godfather movies you’ll know that Trump and his family would not make it very long. But I guess I’ll president has ambitions to be a mob boss. Not very reassuring?
I bring up Watergate a lot on my blog. I guess it thrust me into my love of politics at a very young age. I watched every single minutes of the Watergate hearings on the 13 inch GE PortaColor television that my parents gave me for my bar mitzvah. I had a summer job answering phones and I got my boss to let me watch the hearings on my television what’s on your piece in one year and answering the phones with the other.I would carry my TV back and forth everyday and trust me it wasn’t lite. At the beginning of the hearings there was no Republican support for impeaching vixen but as history now tells us by the end of the hearings take it. Maybe because make sense want a second term and there was no election could take him out of office.
I understand Justin Amash and his wish to have Trump impeached, if I could see this guy out of office tomorrow it would make me so happy. I would deal with a Mike Pence presidency or maybe not. One of those phrases that Trump uses on the media is enemy of the people. Honestly it’s the Republican party and Trump who are the enemy of the people. So even someone that he’s seemingly benign like Mike Pence trying to make himself look is actually deep down a radical bigot.
I think that the best way to Democrats can go is through impeachment inquiries but without actually losing in an impeachment fight. The inquiries will be chiseling away at Trump’s support and hopefully he’ll the weakend enough that by November 2020 he is defeated in a I landslide.
As far as Justin Amash is concerned, he can count on my donating to his re-election campaign. He’s not in my party but he’s the kind of leaders we need in our country.
Perhaps that’s the only way to get through to the present occupant of the White House and I mean that his overlord Putin would have to tell him.
I think the American people should be very worried. This is a guy who is cornered and has the nuclear codes. The last episode of our cartoon president on Showtime had him waging nuclear war with Portugal. Yes that sounds absurd but nuclear war with Iran, North Korea, or some other unwitting adversary.
A cornered and wounded animal is the most dangerous kind and that’s what this man, this lunatic in the White House is, cornered and dangerous.
In 1966 Robert F. Kennedy delivered a speech that included an instance: There is a Chinese curse which says “Mayhelive in interesting times.” Like it or not,we live in interesting times. They aretimesof danger and uncertainty; but they are also the most creative of any time in the history of mankind.
Two days ago special counsel Robert Mueller made a 9 1/2 minute report to the country. Whether you like him or you don’t like him this man is a patriot and I believe he wanted to warn us not just about the abuses in the white house but also the threat to our democracy by foreign actors, especially Russia, but with thanks to this Administration to others including China and Iran.
he urged that all Americans read the reports that he and his team put together. It’s not a dry read but it’s certainly not a John Grisham novel I’m posting this because I’m hoping that my followers on this blog will take the time to download this and read the part they are interested in if not the whole 485 pages.
Our democracy is at stake here. I think it is our civic duty to read this report that took two years in the making. Yesterday the report paid for itself. Paul manafort’s for securus of his properties including a condominium on the 43rd floor of Trump Tower are now the properties of the United States of America and its citizenry. The Marshal Service will be posting these properties for sale and they’re value is considered to be conservatively at 42 million dollars. The whole power investigation cost $22, 000,000.
Let TV commentators be TV commentators but it’s time for us to get on the saddle and read the report itself.
Although Michael Cohen has never had a job in the white house because of the weird nature of trumps businesses he is as close to John Dean of Watergate as we can come to today.
John Dean is absolutely correct in his assessment of the current occupant of the White House’s ability to read books or anything for that matter. He seems to have a problem with even a teleprompter. So to think that he would read 400 pages of what must be for the most part of very dry document, I don’t think so.
Trump now claims that he could read the report anytime he wanted to because he’s President. That may be true but it’s 400 pages!honestly I think the four pages of Pulp fiction that attorney general Barr put out 3 weeks ago is even too long for this President. He would need the cliff notes of the bar four-page memo and even at that I don’t think he’d have the attention span to read it all.
It’s amazing now that Barr has told him what is in the report, Trump no longer thinks we should see it. I think that may be a bit suspicious and I’m not alone. He didn’t get a single bump up in the polls after his fake Victory lap that he did prior to us finding out more about the Mueller report. I don’t know when it will come out but it will come out before the election. Trump thinks he has an ace in the Supreme Court. He did not appoint chief justice Roberts who does not want to make the Supreme Court a political tool of the executive branch. So I think that chief justice Roberts is going to do the right thing. If he votes with the for liberals then we will see the report and I truly believe that Congress is going to expedite this all the way up to the Supreme Court as quickly as possible. It’s important for the American people to find out everything there is to know about the shenanigans during the 2016 election so they can make an informed decision in 2020.
John Dean, former White House counsel to President Nixon, speaks during a hearing on the nomination of federal appeals court judge Brett Kavanaugh to be an associate justice on the U.S. Supreme Court, in the Hart Senate Office Building on September 7, 2018 in Washington, D.C. Dean mocked Donald Trump in a tweet on Saturday, asking when was the last time the president read anything near 400 pages long. PHOTO: MARK WILSON/GETTY IMAGES
Threatening to veto a bill is how this corrupt White House makes sure that the turtle, Mitch McConnell doesn’t bring a bill to the floor of the Senate. Mitch McConnell’s application of the power of congress is unprecedented. basically says he won’t bring a bill to the floor of the Senate that the president is going to veto. What the hell?
As the power of the NRA wins I don’t understand the reasoning behind not wanting something that even 72% of NRA members want. We’re not talking about banning weapons. We’re not talking about taking people’s guns away. We’re talking about making sure that people who should not have guns don’t get them. Do we let everyone wants to drive a car drive a car? No. It’s common sense.
Hence the term common Sense gun control.
The blood of the 45,000 people who die each year from gun violence in our country and especially that of the children and the unarmed women is on the hands of the man in the White House and his turtle.
I’ll preface this by saying I am not a fan of Jeff Bezos.
That being said, I’m certainly not a fan of the National enquirer or its parent corporation run by David Pecker. Yes, I used his name because it was funny in a sophomoric way.
I was just talking to a friend of mine about this. I had a caregiver about 3 years ago who was a gay man in his early 60s. He was well-educated and had a career as a character actor in Hollywood. He would take me to the grocery store and as we will check out he would short reading of theheadlines about Hillary Clinton on the cover of the National enquirer and tell mehow this was making him not want to vote for her.
How many others do you think had that same idea in the back of their heads?
78000 in three States?
Yes it’s a tabloid but for some reason people want to believe it’s headlines. Maybe because they’re salacious and people want to think that others have a worse life than they do even if they’re celebrities, especially if they’re celebrities. And to me that’s the danger of this publication. I would never advocate for it to be closed for any reason but it would be really nice if mainstream media would call it out for what it is, a bunch of lies.
