My meanderings about politics, LGBTQ COMMUNITY, space exploration, cars, cats, tech things and whatever else strikes my fancy. To the current occupant of the White House, we will not be taken into war on anyone's leash.
It’s rare that a national news anchor quivers or shows emotion in his or her voice when on the air. The time that I remembered the best was when Matt Lauer first realize what was happening on September 11th hand how his voice changed. I was living in France at the time but when Walter Cronkite announced the death of President Kennedy you got the same emotion in the voice. Today was one of those days. Chuck Todd sounded alarmed. Look, I have not been one of his biggest fans of late but he did his job today.
Yesterday at the end of my last blog post I jokingly asked China to find the 20 minutes of missing transcript from the phone call between Trump and the president of Ukraine. Who you that Trump would ask China today, right in front of everyone to hear, 4 dirt on Joe Biden. I guess the no collusion no collusion while truck is out the window and now they’re going for the no quid pro quo. He’s colluding in plain sight.
Turns out this is a republican thing. Nixon contacted the North Vietnamese, the country we were at war with before the 1968 election and told them that if they stopped negotiating with President Johnson he would give them a better deal when he became president. At the same time the Soviet Union approached Hubert Humphrey who ran against Nixon in 1968 but Humphrey, a Democrat, went right to the FBI the way you’re supposed to act when a foreign country tries to get you to collude with them.
more cracks in the armor are appearing today. Judge Napolitano stood outside of Fox News and went through all the reasons why what Trump has done is not only impeachable but he should be removed from office, that’s on Fox News!
I had to go back to my Netflix pablum of shows because I can’t at this point watch too much of this stuff without it’s affecting me. My poor cats gets scared when I start screaming at the television like a mad men. but when you see the president of the United States betraying everything that you truly believe in it’s hard.
At the end of the day, I believe that Trump and his cohorts are Miss judging the American electorate. His use of profanity has to have an effect on moms who don’t want their kids growing up with a foul mouth. we all use profanity but he’s the president of the United States and has to be held to a higher standard. Young people are going to go out and vote this time because I really believe that they see an earth falling apart around them and they are angry at my generation and those that came before them for ruining the planet. I have hope as we all must have because without hope there’s no point and waking up the next morning.
I am not a fan of Chuck Todd on Meet the Press. He likes to hear his own voice and he’s a crybaby. His terrible performance during the Democratic debate in June is indicative of everything I’m saying. But I remember one Sunday when he lamented the fact that he could not ask probing questions has he feared not being able to book guests on the show if they thought he was going to be too difficult with them. And he took all of the other talk shows with them. All the other talk shows except for the one hosted by Chris Wallace. Chris Wallace has niver taken a backseat to a guest unwilling to answer questions. He probes and probes and always at the end of the day makes himself look like a fair person then someone that just sits there and plays that.
So week after week we get headlines from Chris Wallace’s show weather it been with one of the members of the current administration or people that come on and show 2 give the propaganda of the current occupant of the White House. He does not let them and asks question after question until they relent.
Perhaps the other talk show hosts should consider taking a book out of his page.
And while you’re at it MSNBC and NBC, perhaps you can find a replacement for Chuck Todd. He’d be great on today, a show I never watch.
The second night of the democratic debates was interesting. Once again Chuck Todd proved that he is not moderator material. But to be honest a lot of the candidates didn’t know how to answer questions very well. But the final minutes were the strangest to be honest. When asked what their first action would be as the new president of the United States each was given the task of answering in a few words. None of them did. Some were very good like Eric Swalwell, some bizarre like Marianne Williamson and then some that absolutely made no sense like Joe Biden. The question was what he would do as his first action as president and he said that he would defeat Donald Trump. aren’t you already president and haven’t you already defeated Donald Trump on January 21st 2021?
Winners and losers. It’s simple Bernie Sanders was a loser and Joe Biden was massacred by Kamala Harris. The rest threaded water and I’m sure as the field narrows we will look back on tonight kind of like when the Republicans couldn’t get on stage in the right order in one of their debates.
First I’m going to say who I thought lost. Beto O’Rourke not only look terrible but he seemed off his game. Why did he start off in Spanish? That could have been left to a later question or even his closing statement but it seemed out of place and pushy. Bill de Blasio is a great mare but as far as campaigning for president he was way too pushy and arrogant. Tulsi Gabbard is one of those one issue candidates who kept going on and on about her service which I respect wholeheartedly but it stopped what is the only thing that makes our president. I thought that her answer regarding the lgbtq community was lacking and saying that she was raised in a conservative household doesn’t cut it for me. Tim Ryan what’s also one of those one-issue candidates who kept talking about the fact that he could win in the rust belt.
I loved Jay Inslee’s answer about Trump. It didn’t feel rehearsed and it was accurate. Hunan Castro was very very good and poist and I think he made quite a good impression. Cory Booker was very good and he answered the questions directly. At the end of the day Elizabeth Warren was the one I thought that the best job. She was somewhat quieter in the second half of the debate but came in with a great opening and answer the questions.
When a moderator in a debate asks you a question it seems elusive that you don’t answer it directly. Why did Beto O’Rourke not answer the question about the income tax rate at 70% for the top 1%? Is he expecting to get money from these people? I thought he said he wasn’t going to accept money from these kind of people. As far as the rest of the field they were forgettable as right now I can’t even think about their names or remember their performances.
Chuck Todd was terrible and I’m hoping that the hierarchy NBC News sees that perhaps Rachel maddow should take over as the moderator of meet the Press.
Tomorrow night’s debate it’s going to be pivotal. This is the one that Joe Biden could fall flat on his face on and I’m looking forward to seeing what senator Kamala Harris can do on a stage the way she handles herself in front of those testifying in front of the Senate.
And as far as the present occupant of the White House, I think he’s the one who orchestrated all those glitches from his perch in Air Force One going over to do his report to his overlord Putin.
At the end of the day the American people are the winners tonight and the NRA is a big loser.
Chuck Todd on Meet the Press Daily today said it best, how can Bernie Sanders defends this by saying he was busy, does he not think the president is going to be busy? Does he not not realize that saying that limits his appeal?
I have lost friendships over Bernie Sanders. I don’t understand his appeal. He’s an old Jewish man and that’s coming from another one, me. I believe that he was the reason we have Donald Trump. let’s not make any mistake about it he attacked Hillary for her being a woman who made some speeches after she left office. That attack stuck. I heard it’s from people on the street during 2016 all the time. They said that she was in the pocket of Wallstreet, whose refrain is that?
You run a campaign and it will demonstrate how you will run the country. Case and point:
Actually keep America great is a great slogan, we should keep America great by getting rid of 45. It’s sad when someone has to endorse themselves. You remember in high-school that kid that would have to vote for himself because nobody else would vote for him, well that kid is now president.
And from the party that brought you great family values their president calls a member of the media, a respected member of the media, a member of the media that has bent over backwards to be fair, he called Chuck Todd a son of a bitch. He has no right to call a member of the fourth estate that and I hope Chuck Todd brings it up tomorrow on Meet the Press
