California passes bill to give wage, benefit protections to workers in gig economy – NBC News

It’s astounding to me how a political party, the grand old party, is going the wrong way, and if it doesn’t change into Extinction.

I was so pleased to read about this new law going to be past here in California protecting those in the gig economy. Uber drivers in Lyft drivers have been the stepchildren of corporate America for too long. Uber as far as I’m concerned is the worst of the group. I refuse to use their services. Can you read about how GrubHub and other food delivery services are screwing over small mom-and-pop operations and how they’re not actually paying their drivers unless they live in California because it turns out your tips are what GrubHub relies on to pay its employees. I’m willing to pay more to know that an employee has a living wage. I’m in no way rich but there is a thing called karma.

The reason I started off this post with the fact that a party is going the wrong way each time I read an article about workers getting more rights the people who are against it are always the Republicans. they are vehement Lee against this law that’s going to be signed by Governor newsom that protects the gig workers, why? That’s right they don’t rely on individuals for their campaign financing they rely on corporations. Until we get money out of our politics, our politics will be corrupt.

Obama diplomats throw in with Buttigieg – POLITICO

I really like mayor Pete Buttigieg. young, intelligent, charismatic and everything that would make a perfect president. You know there’s a but coming.

I have two issues fat mayor Pete confronts him and they are related. He is openly gay and has a big problem with the African-American community.

it’s hard to change stereotypes in people’s minds, especially the kind of stereotype that is Grand into your head every Sunday at church. I remember that wonderful evening in November 2008 when President Obama won the election when nobody thought he would. That happiness was dashed by the passing a proposition 8, Yan Tai chi marriage proposition here in California. People have been reluctant to say why that got past but I have a feeling the high African-American turnout had much to do with it. Again it’s hard to break stereotypes, especially those from then to your head by your preacher.

I support mayor Pete, I’ve given him money for his campaign but I’ve done so a couple of other candidates as well. I think the stumble this summer with the problems in South Bend with the police chief have done some damage to his campaign. Is it repairable, sure, everything is repairable in politics. I just don’t think that’s the Democrats are going to take the chance of nominating an openly gay man who does not have great African-American support.

There I said it.

Elizabeth Warren in Los Angeles

On a day…The sitting president of the United States retweeted that he was the King of Israel.

On a day that the sitting president of the United States said that he was the second coming of God.

On a day that the president of the United States said that Jews were disloyal.

On a day when 37 psychiatrist came out to say that the sitting president of the United States is mentally ill.

I got to spend an hour with a breath of fresh air

On a day that the president of the United States said that Jews were disloyal.

On a day when 37 psychiatrist came out to say that the sitting president of the United States is mentally ill.

I got to spend an hour with a breath of fresh air, Elizabeth Warren.

It was a hot and humid day in Los Angeles and yet I would estimate 4 to 5,000 people showed up at The shrine auditorium to see Senator Elizabeth Warren. When we got there at the line when around the building. The crowd was the first and filled with beautiful children. People were talking about politics, people were hopeful.

I’ve been to several of these things over the years and usually you have to listen to a lot of speakers before the main speaker comes out but this time it was different. We had one speaker and spoke both in English and Spanish and then she introduced Elizabeth Warren.

I’m not sure if it’s because she’s a woman but Elizabeth Warren made a point of introducing herself to us as a human being. I really came there to hear her policies and she did hit on some of them but it was mostly about her upbringing, her mom and how she got to this point in our life. She’s a fascinating woman and it was illuminating.

I don’t know why Democratic candidates of late are insistent on giving us all of these anecdotes about other people. I truly want to hear their plan and Elizabeth Warren is one of those people that I was hoping to hear more about a plan and less about our family life but I guess there’s a very long time ahead before the actual votes are counted and she will have her time to make her plans in person.

I wasn’t there as a Warren supporter, I will be supporting whomever the eventual nominee of the Democratic party. I was there because I wanted to find out more about Elizabeth Warren and see the person in real life

Being an event planner a couple of things need to be fixed. First there should have been a big screen television for those of us in the back to be able to see. We had positions close to the stage but gave them up so that others could be closed or who needed to sit. So it was difficult to see her from our vantage point. I don’t think they thought they would have that big a crowd because the Press Deus was pretty close up front which left very little room in front of it. And being on a riser it basically blocked out the view for the audience in the back. These are things that will be fixed. they were great at getting all of our details so they could follow up with us I’m sure for fundraising and further support.

Did she make me a Warren supporter? Not yet but she certainly made it easier for me to support her if she becomes the Democratic nominee for president of the United States.

On a day where the current occupant of the White House put out crazy, this was a breath of fresh air so needed here in Los Angeles.

Sen. John Barrasso throws cold water on new gun legislation – POLITICO

Let’s get one important fact out of the way right off the bat:

Just 2 percent of Barrasso’s 2017 fundraising is Wyoming-based

and if you look deeper you’ll see that he is absolutely not allergic to getting dark money, money from packs that don’t tell anyone where this money is coming from. You can thank citizens united for his still remaining in the Senate.

I love how he talks about how a red flag law could hurt law-abiding citizens. DUI laws are exactly the same thing. no one would even consider saying that the DUI laws hurt law-abiding citizens but when your money comes from the gun lobby you will say anything even if it comes out of your ass.

And what hurts me the most is that he only represents a little over a quarter million people when Senators Dianne Feinstein and Kamala Harris of California each represent a little bit over 20 million people. Taxation without equal representation anybody?

Until we clean the slate in the House and Senate of Republicans that refused to abide by the will of the people and I am talking about 80 to 90% of the American people including 72% of Republicans at the last poll who are looking for and are demanding common Sense gun control.

Enough is enough

What about Gilroy? Trump’s White House is ignoring California mass shooting – Salon.com

Infrequently onphone Town Hall meetings with my congressman Jimmy Gomez. Once I had the opportunity to ask him a question about funding for California. he told me that the republicans in Congress have a saying, ABC, anybody but California. So the largest state in the Union by population is systematically being ignored by the federal government.

Now the supposed leader of our country is going to two states that he needs to win re-election but is skipping over coming to Gilroy California after the equally horrific shooting there. I read that two of the survivors of the Gilroy massacre we’re also survivors of the Las Vegas one. They met on a Facebook support group for survivors of mass shootings. It’s amazing that we have to have Facebook groups for survivors of mass shootings. So once again Trump ignores California. He’s quite happy to come here to suck money out of his Republican billionaires but to help the state and anyway, no. although I have to say that he did say that we should be raking the forest so that we would not have any more forest fires. Helpful information like that is his Hallmark.

You’re either the president of everyone oh you’re not a legitimate president. To me Trump is not a legitimate president I like he’s a racist, xenophobe and a white nationalist. This is in a country that is becoming more and more a rainbow of wonderful humans.

Nearly 140 Dogs Found Inside Mansion In Anaheim Hills, California

As an animal lover the fact that someone had 150 small animals living in a mansion when none of their neighbors in a gated community new that they even had a dog is frightful to me.

This is disgusting.

As a political junkie what I find most disturbing is the fact that these people, Edward and Jo Reitkopp were rabid Trump supporters. I’m not putting a correlation between the two but if you go to this person’s Facebook page you will see nothing but pictures of Trump.

The house was so filthy that people had to go in to get the animals in hazmat suits. the animals were covered in feces and urine, these people need to be put in jail for a long time and hopefully a jail that doesn’t let him go to the bathroom in a toilet just like what they did to their poor animals.

U.S. military to build 6 tent cities near border for migrants – NBC news

Do you think that a guy whose name is Miller might be an immigrant or at least from an immigrant family can his past? He does not sound native American in any way and the way I see it unless you are native American you should be proud of America’s immigration policies that have made our country great.

Stephen Miller will not make our country great again he will make our country fail. I don’t have any idea of what happened in his childhood which has made him into this nasty creature that lurks the White House. it must have been something traumatic because even his own Rabbi thinks that Stephen Miller is a bad seed.

Immigration is the lifeblood of our country. Look at Japan with its aging population and no immigration looking at Doom in the future. How long has it been since you bought a Panasonic television?

If we are to prosper we need to bring you and wonderful people into our country. My dad and mom were immigrants and they were amazing people that contributed to their communities in every way they possibly could. I am a proud US citizen born in Houston Texas but I am still considering myself of immigrant roots.

ICE should not be abolished but their powers need to be curtailed. Angry people have taken over ice, should I say angry Republicans or just angry trumper’s? I’ll let the readers figured that out.

And now I’m speaking to my state legislators. California cannot be complicit in this terrible scheme. I know that attorney general Xavier Becerra will do the right thing.

California leads 16 states in lawsuit against Trump national emergency declaration – POLITICO

Calling this President unhinged is an insult to the word unhinged. He’s more than unhinged he is certifiable. Honestly, this is becoming very tiresome. I am worried about what he has done to our federal courts in packing them with his allies. In his little sing-song that he did when announcing the so-called National emergency he was correct in saying that it is going to go to the Supreme Court. what I’m worried is how these new justices that are beholden to him will vote. I’m sure if you tell Justice Kavanaugh that tRUMP will give him some beer, he will fall in line with this madman’s actions. I am worried for the state of our Union has I’ve never been before.
