The Weirdest Three Minutes of the Second Democratic Debate – Slate

The second night of the democratic debates was interesting. Once again Chuck Todd proved that he is not moderator material. But to be honest a lot of the candidates didn’t know how to answer questions very well. But the final minutes were the strangest to be honest. When asked what their first action would be as the new president of the United States each was given the task of answering in a few words. None of them did. Some were very good like Eric Swalwell, some bizarre like Marianne Williamson and then some that absolutely made no sense like Joe Biden. The question was what he would do as his first action as president and he said that he would defeat Donald Trump. aren’t you already president and haven’t you already defeated Donald Trump on January 21st 2021?

Winners and losers. It’s simple Bernie Sanders was a loser and Joe Biden was massacred by Kamala Harris. The rest threaded water and I’m sure as the field narrows we will look back on tonight kind of like when the Republicans couldn’t get on stage in the right order in one of their debates.

Who won the first democratic debate of the 2020 presidential campaign?

First I’m going to say who I thought lost. Beto O’Rourke not only look terrible but he seemed off his game. Why did he start off in Spanish? That could have been left to a later question or even his closing statement but it seemed out of place and pushy. Bill de Blasio is a great mare but as far as campaigning for president he was way too pushy and arrogant. Tulsi Gabbard is one of those one issue candidates who kept going on and on about her service which I respect wholeheartedly but it stopped what is the only thing that makes our president. I thought that her answer regarding the lgbtq community was lacking and saying that she was raised in a conservative household doesn’t cut it for me. Tim Ryan what’s also one of those one-issue candidates who kept talking about the fact that he could win in the rust belt.

I loved Jay Inslee’s answer about Trump. It didn’t feel rehearsed and it was accurate. Hunan Castro was very very good and poist and I think he made quite a good impression. Cory Booker was very good and he answered the questions directly. At the end of the day Elizabeth Warren was the one I thought that the best job. She was somewhat quieter in the second half of the debate but came in with a great opening and answer the questions.

When a moderator in a debate asks you a question it seems elusive that you don’t answer it directly. Why did Beto O’Rourke not answer the question about the income tax rate at 70% for the top 1%? Is he expecting to get money from these people? I thought he said he wasn’t going to accept money from these kind of people. As far as the rest of the field they were forgettable as right now I can’t even think about their names or remember their performances.

Chuck Todd was terrible and I’m hoping that the hierarchy NBC News sees that perhaps Rachel maddow should take over as the moderator of meet the Press.

Tomorrow night’s debate it’s going to be pivotal. This is the one that Joe Biden could fall flat on his face on and I’m looking forward to seeing what senator Kamala Harris can do on a stage the way she handles herself in front of those testifying in front of the Senate.

And as far as the present occupant of the White House, I think he’s the one who orchestrated all those glitches from his perch in Air Force One going over to do his report to his overlord Putin.

At the end of the day the American people are the winners tonight and the NRA is a big loser.

Justice Department lawyer defends herself after viral video on child migrant treatment – NBC News Exclusive

When you have a job to do you either do it or you go home. Saying that she wasn’t well prepared to make the arguments in front of a three-judge panel makes absolutely no sense. To say that it was selective editing is not true. To post this to her friends on Facebook is appalling. I don’t care how long she’s been with the justice department she needs to apologize not only to asylum-seeking migrants and their children who are being terribly treated but to the United States of America and the community of the world. This is a disgrace. Any other countrybthat had done this would have been condemned buy another administration. Instead it’s the United States that should bow its head in shame.

This administration claims its Christian values. Truly this is what they consider Christian values?of course this is the same president that said that he did not rape this woman because she wasn’t his type. Does that mean if a woman is his type he be okay with raping her?

If this is making America great again I want nothing of it.

This is straight up child abuse, no ifs ands or buts. And you can lay this at the feet of trump who last week said he was going to do exactly this to the children coming across the border seeking rightful asylum in our country from scary situations in their home countries.

Kellyanne Conway Just ‘Disregarded’ The Law, Trump-Appointed Watchdog to Testify – The Daily Beast

I wonder how long this Trump appointee has left in his job. I wonder what sort of absolute immunity Trump is going to say this man has. He doesn’t have any, let’s cut to the chase.

The epitome of an oxymoron is Trump ethics. This is the most unethical White House we’ve ever had and I’m including Richard Nixon in this mix. sure Nixon did some terrible things and I was very happy to see him resign but compared to what this administration is doing Nixon was an angel.

We have members of the justice department testifying in front of three federal judges telling them that young children don’t need soap, toothbrushes or any kind of toiletries while they’re in the care of the US government. Nicole Wallace on her show today said that if a president of the United States we’re going to a country that did this to asylum seekers the president would cancel the visit. Trump is leaving for the G20 and I hope he is ostracized. Of course Putin is going to come and get his briefing but I hope that the leaders of the Allies at the G20 will tweet Trump to why he should be treated, like a war criminal.

As far as Kellyanne Conway is concerned you have to wonder what is in her head. Lust for power? wanted to be next to the so-called leader of the Free world? I don’t understand and this comedy routine between her and her husband his even more baffling. May she go away and never be seen again on the public arena.

Lawmakers to decide on Mueller testimony this week, Schiff says – POLITICO

Robert Mueller has been the disappointment of the decade. The problem is that his investigation was ruled and run by the Republican Department of Justice. The Department of Justice used to have quasi independence from the political parties but that has slowly been chipped away. Even if Independence was the goal Republicans wanted you to think that it wasn’t. Case in point when attorney general Loretta Lynch met with President Clinton on board a plane during the 2016 campaign the Republicans made it seem that it was some sort of conspiratorial meeting. There was nothing to conspire about. Benghazi? The emails? My God these so-called scandals pale in comparison to what Trump does on a daily basis.

Everyone thought that Rod Rosenstein was some kind of non-partisan hero. That was so wrong. It was best illustrated on the day that he stood behind attorney general Barr wild bar lied about what was reported in the Mueller report. Mueller’s boss has made sure that he could not do his job. He never interviewed Trump nor did he ask him any questions other than the ones that did not involve obstruction of justice and even those were sent to an attorney and you know that Trump never even looked at them.

I will set the record straight, Republicans cheat and that’s how they win. I am so worried that they are going to win again.

to the members of the House judiciary committee. Subpoena Mueller and make sure that his testimony is open and not in a closed session. The American people need to hear the 10 times that Trump obstructed Justice from Mueller’s mouth. Remember that’s lady who was at the Town Hall that Justin amash did last month. When asked she said that she had never heard Trump had done anything wrong in the Mueller report. She clearly said that it’s because she watches nothing but conservative news outlets. Even Fox won’t be able to hide Mueller’s testimony. And that’s why it needs to be open and televised.

Would Buttigieg be the first gay president? Maybe not. – NBC News

I read what the historians say in the article and I find it preposterous. Basically they claim that MD 18th and 19th century there were confirmed bachelors who had sexual relationships with men but the historians say they were not gay! I think we’re dealing with semantics here because the word gay came out after Stonewall but homosexuality, pansies and the other slurs that were used in those time periods were aimed specifically at the people we now call gay.

Mayor Pete says that the odds are we had a gay president in the past. We’ve had 45 presidents and approximately 4.5% of the population identify themselves as gay. You do the math.

Historians like history to stay etched in stone and so therefore I think that they may be close-minded to what is a pretty obvious tell in a couple of our presidents intimate lives. I’m not going to be here outing any president and nor did mayor Pete, I think it was the historians who did it in the article.

Ex-Trump Supporter: I Was ‘Really An Idiot’ to Think He’d Be a Good President – Newsweek

Have you ever bought something once you got home you realized you had been conned? Buyer’s remorse? I guess that’s what a lot of people who for some reason had a weird dislike for Hillary Clinton are feeling after two-and-a-half years of this presidency.

What’s surprising is the number of people willing to say this in public. MSNBC is littered with people including some of their anchors who were Republicans that I yelled at while they served under different in administrations who are now either Independents or straight up Democrats. I don’t think it’s just Trump. I think if you throw into the mix Mitch McConnell and the hypocrisy of a lot of leaders in Congress like Lindsey Graham and Ted Cruz you see why people are having their come to Jesus moment.

Trump is a con man. What’s so funnythe word con man that Trump hates so much is becoming synonymous with him on Google searches. Good for yourself, do Trump con man as a search and see what happens.

Today Trump pulled back from the brink of war with Iran. I think he finally realized that he has calmed himself into the presidency and I don’t think he wants that job anymore. Maybe that’s why he is making so many errors including all of these undisciplined interviews across what he called fake news media networks.

Is the Republican party Doom to be on the junk pile of History? Can’t say that. Americans have very short memories case in point is how they are looking with nostalgia upon George HW Bush and his presidency even though he took us into an unnecessary war and was the cause of a near world depression. You put him next to Trump and he looks great.

I’m hoping that this man is not re-elected but until I watch him leave the White House I won’t believe anything about what people are prognosticating.

Nonpartisan ethics watchdog claims Ivanka Trump has violated the Hatch Act – Salon

The problem with the United States is that we have been lulled into a sense of security by Presidents who, even those like Richard Nixon, followed ethics recommendations. The Hatch act was written into law in 1939 and basically says that anyone who is a paid member of an Administration other than the President, vice president and a couple of other people cannot use their position to promote their political views. This worked until Donald Trump. So when you have a President that brings in his daughter and son-in-law into the White House and has his campaign adviser and/or campaign pollster working in the White House one would expect that an act that has no teeth would not work. Basically the Hatch Act expected that the President would follow ethics rules. That obviously doesn’t work with this man he has not a single bit of ethics and his DNA. So it’s a useless act right now and with a person like Mitch McConnell in the Senate don’t expect it to have any teeth anytime soon. This is is sad for those seeing the headlines would seem to make people feel like something is being done but in actuality nothing can be done because it has to come from the Oval Office and he’s not going to fire or reprimand or anything his daughter, the daughter that he seems to have weird feelings for.

Oh by the way if Tiffany were in the job maybe the Hatch Act would work.

{OUCH} Trump to Hannity: You’re ‘Not Really’ a Patriot, You Just Want ‘Great Ratings’ – The Daily Beast

Words between one showman to another. Honestly Hannity is not a reporter and Trump is not really a President. Did you see how Trump had the ABC crew we retake his answer when his chief of staff Mulvaney started coughing? I’m getting tired of saying this but can you imagine if President Obama have done that?

I feel like we’re living in The Truman Show. Each day we’re asailed by one scandal after another. Today we find out that the nominee to be the Secretary of Defense hid that his son beat his ex-wife with a bat from the FBI and the Senate. We have a potential nominee to be the UN ambassador who as ambassador to Canada was at her home in the United States more than in Canada. It just doesn’t stop and it’s getting very tiresome. I don’t know how this country is going to recover from this nightmare. Steve Bannon wanted to destroy our government, he’s planted the seeds to do that. I worry that this fake president will not leave office if he loses he said so. He also said that he would not leave if he was impeached although I don’t think he understands what a piece of it is. Honestly I don’t think he understands impeachment for the life of him. For stable genius he’s quite an idiot and a moron, not my words those words came from his former Secretary of State and his former Chief of Staff.

We are living in an acting presidency. The word acting is in front of most of the members of his cabinet. And those who don’t have acting in front of their name are under investigation for one impropriety or another.

And the Republicans do nothing.

Shame on them. Saying you are and being a patriot or so different.

NBC has announced the positions for the Democratic candidates for the upcoming debates – NBC News

I know where you’re placed on the debate stage is Paramount. So the DNC is helping the front-runners stay in their positions. I would have preferred a more random approach but then of course my favorite candidates Peter Buttigieg, Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris will be close to if not right in the middle of the stage. I guess I was correct when I first saw the lineup. The first night of the debates will spark a lot of interest even though Biden and Sanders are not there. Elizabeth Warren will be center stage and she will be the star of the event Shirley propelling her if she has a good performance and I know she will. On the second night having both Peter Buttigieg and Kamala Harris close to Biden and Sanders will help them engage better with the supposed front-runners. I think that this will allow their styles to come through to the American people. I am so looking forward to this and I hope that all of you will either view at home or join viewing parties that are being organized by the different candidates across the country.
