Boehner splashes cold water on immigration reform

IN this article Speaker of the House Boehner says that the immigration reform bill is dead in his mind because of the lack of trust between he and the White House. If there is a lack of trust it should be on the side of the White House who has tried olive branch after olive branch until the tree  is practically bare. Please call your representative in Congress and tell them it’s not fair to hold 12 million people hostage because of the winds of politics.

In my memory Winter Olympics have never been this controversial. Weird toilets, reporter housing incomplete, stadiums costing three and a half times their original budget and massive corruption are stealing what is to be event about sports and the best of the best.

Sandra Fluke Announces Run for California State Senate

By Andrew Rafferty

Women’s rights activist Sandra Fluke announced Wednesday that she has decided to run for a California State Senate seat, reversing a previous move toward making a run for U.S. Congress.

“My entire career has been devoted to the public interest, whether representing victims of human trafficking or advocating for working families,” Fluke said in a statement. “I am committed to continuing that fight in Sacramento.”

The Democratic lawyer heavily considered running for the Congressional seat that will be vacated after Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Cali., retires at the end of the year. Fluke was one of three Democratic candidates who filed paperwork seeking the state party’s endorsement in what was expected to be a hard fought primary.

Fluke was catapulted into the national spotlight in 2012 after conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh called a “slut” after she delivered a Congressional testimony in support of mandatory health care insurance coverage for contraception.

NBC’s Michael O’Brien contributed to this report.

Republican Senate Candidate’s Ad Goes After Congress

Republican Senate Candidate’s Ad Goes After Congress
collapse story

This is one way to try and break through as a Washington outsider.

David Perdue, running in a crowded Republican primary for the open Georgia Senate seat, is depicting his opponents and Congress literally as babies in a new introductory web video.

About 2:48 into what is otherwise a serious ad about the former Reebok and Dollar General CEO and cousin of former Gov. Sonny Perdue (R), actual, whining babies with his opponents’ names on their onesies appear. They are sprinkled throughout the rest of the video and even used to expand the metaphor to all of Congress, showing babies sprawled on lawn in front of the Capitol.

The ad maker is Fred Davis, who has a penchant for the provocative.

Incumbent Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R) is not running for reelection, which opened up this seat. Perdue trails in limited public polling behind the other candidates – congressmen Phil Gingrey, Jack Kingston, and Paul Broun, as well as former Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel — all of whom have more political experience, something Perdue is trying to use against them with this ad.

The primary is May 20th with a runoff, if necessary, July 22nd.
