My meanderings about politics, LGBTQ COMMUNITY, space exploration, cars, cats, tech things and whatever else strikes my fancy. To the current occupant of the White House, we will not be taken into war on anyone's leash.
First I’m going to say who I thought lost. Beto O’Rourke not only look terrible but he seemed off his game. Why did he start off in Spanish? That could have been left to a later question or even his closing statement but it seemed out of place and pushy. Bill de Blasio is a great mare but as far as campaigning for president he was way too pushy and arrogant. Tulsi Gabbard is one of those one issue candidates who kept going on and on about her service which I respect wholeheartedly but it stopped what is the only thing that makes our president. I thought that her answer regarding the lgbtq community was lacking and saying that she was raised in a conservative household doesn’t cut it for me. Tim Ryan what’s also one of those one-issue candidates who kept talking about the fact that he could win in the rust belt.
I loved Jay Inslee’s answer about Trump. It didn’t feel rehearsed and it was accurate. Hunan Castro was very very good and poist and I think he made quite a good impression. Cory Booker was very good and he answered the questions directly. At the end of the day Elizabeth Warren was the one I thought that the best job. She was somewhat quieter in the second half of the debate but came in with a great opening and answer the questions.
When a moderator in a debate asks you a question it seems elusive that you don’t answer it directly. Why did Beto O’Rourke not answer the question about the income tax rate at 70% for the top 1%? Is he expecting to get money from these people? I thought he said he wasn’t going to accept money from these kind of people. As far as the rest of the field they were forgettable as right now I can’t even think about their names or remember their performances.
Chuck Todd was terrible and I’m hoping that the hierarchy NBC News sees that perhaps Rachel maddow should take over as the moderator of meet the Press.
Tomorrow night’s debate it’s going to be pivotal. This is the one that Joe Biden could fall flat on his face on and I’m looking forward to seeing what senator Kamala Harris can do on a stage the way she handles herself in front of those testifying in front of the Senate.
And as far as the present occupant of the White House, I think he’s the one who orchestrated all those glitches from his perch in Air Force One going over to do his report to his overlord Putin.
At the end of the day the American people are the winners tonight and the NRA is a big loser.
I’ve been communicating with one of my best friends today telling him that it’s becoming someone disheartening to see this President and his actions. He’s out there in the open, figuratively shooting someone on 5th Avenue.
What is more upsetting to me take the fact of the Republican Party anyway it’s leaders, say they’re okay with it. I keep thinking of this scenario. Let’s say, Norway, comes up to Joe Biden and says “Hey we’ve got information on Donald Trump, want it? All things being equal other than having a body buried somewhere in the White House this President seems to be immune from bad information about him. But in the future, hopefully we’ll have another president whose last name is not Trump, I wonder how the Republicans defending this President and his words yesterday would feel?
I’ve been a lifelong Democrat but there has been Republicans that I have admired. But when Mitch McConnell if his swarthy face says that if one of theSupreme Court justices passes away next year would he replaced at Justice unlike what he did was Merrick Garland, he says yes. So as far as I’m concerned the Republican party or the party of trump is morally bankrupt and yes we need a conservative voice but one that respect the laws of our country and are not blatant hypocrites.
Until I am proven wrong, I feel very pessimistic about the future of our country and especially the democracy our forefathers envisioned us for us. I pray to the universe that I am wrong
Republicans only win when they cheat and those who support their cheating ways are cheaters themselves.
So the turtle speaks and he says that’s what he said in 2016 was a lie.anyone who knows the man or watched him perform knows that he lies through his teeth and will do anything to win, destroying thesystem our government has worked with for the last 230 years. our government works because there are three branches and the turtle wants to make sure there’s only one branch and that’s the presidency. The turtle will be upset when a Democrat wins the presidency and this time I hope the Democrats don’t play fair but instead use his words against him.
It was fun watching Lindsey Graham get the Chuck Todd message used on him during an interview with Chris Wallace on Fox news this weekend. Chuck Todd loves to play people something they have said in the past And ask them how they feel about it now. That pieocracy of Republicans is beyond the pale. I’m going watch Lindsey Graham on television anymore but I’ve read the reports and he lied through his teeth like all the Republicans in the Senate seem to be doing right now. What a shameful display by a once-great party.
Remember Merrick Garland he deserves to be on Supreme Court but the turtle would not let it be on it because of politics and lies.
I have yelled at the TV more times than I’d like to think about when Allen West was on spewing his form of conservatism. The NRA must truly be in trouble if this guy comes out and says that both Wayne LaPierre and the new president who replaced Oliver North are lying about access that the board has to financial information. Financial information like the $200,000 in suits that Wayne LaPierre has purchased on the NRA account. What is it with all of these Republicans buying expensive suits, remember Paul Manafort’s?
The NRA started as a gun safety organization and now it’s a purveyor of violence across the country. They claim the second amendment is there right to unlimited arms and yet they seem to forget the first words of the 2nd amendment which say “A well regulated Militia” and yet they negate the word regulated and go for all-out armament of themselves. It’s absurd and it’s even more absurd that courts have upheld this. Look at Australia which had a mass murder in 1998 and also had a strong gun ownership history. They banned guns bought them back and there has been complete drop in gun violence unprecedented in our times. Look at how fast New Zealand acted upon the same issue. It’s funny I’m watching the show called Janet King which is an Australian show that reminds me of Law & order. And season 2 there have been 19 murders over the course of 15 months by gun violence and they have set up a commission to figure out how to stop gun crime. 19 murders! That’s not even an hour in the United States. And by the way the guns were all imported to Australia from the US, any surprises there? It’s making us a hated country.
The United States of America is the number one gun exporter in the world and that’s the legal ones.
When is enough is enough? Sandy Hook, Parkland, Pulse Nightclub, all church, synagogue and mosque shootings or those on army bases? We have become numb to this violence just like we have become numb to the hatred spewing out of this white house and it’s time for a change before we lose our America forever.
China,India, theUnited States,Indonesia,Pakistan,Bangladesh,Nigeria,Ethiopia,Egypt,Saudi Arabia,Iran, among all mostly Islamic countries
If this is not the company you want the United States to be listed with its time that we take a firm step into the 21st century and abolish the death penalty. How many deaths innocent men and women can our society have on its bloody hands? DNA evidence has cleared so many who have been sitting innocent on death row. can you imagine the stress of being confined when one is innocent? That nightmare should be enough to make us say no to the death penalty. It’s cheaper to house someone in jail for the rest of their life then to goes through the machination of a death penalty appeal process and incarceration.
Last week the Supreme Court stayed the execution of a Buddhist on death row but said no to one man whose only request was that he not be given lethal injection as he was allergic to the chemicals and would suffer greatly. He asked for the gas chamber or some other means but the Supreme Court said no.
Although Michael Cohen has never had a job in the white house because of the weird nature of trumps businesses he is as close to John Dean of Watergate as we can come to today.
John Dean is absolutely correct in his assessment of the current occupant of the White House’s ability to read books or anything for that matter. He seems to have a problem with even a teleprompter. So to think that he would read 400 pages of what must be for the most part of very dry document, I don’t think so.
Trump now claims that he could read the report anytime he wanted to because he’s President. That may be true but it’s 400 pages!honestly I think the four pages of Pulp fiction that attorney general Barr put out 3 weeks ago is even too long for this President. He would need the cliff notes of the bar four-page memo and even at that I don’t think he’d have the attention span to read it all.
It’s amazing now that Barr has told him what is in the report, Trump no longer thinks we should see it. I think that may be a bit suspicious and I’m not alone. He didn’t get a single bump up in the polls after his fake Victory lap that he did prior to us finding out more about the Mueller report. I don’t know when it will come out but it will come out before the election. Trump thinks he has an ace in the Supreme Court. He did not appoint chief justice Roberts who does not want to make the Supreme Court a political tool of the executive branch. So I think that chief justice Roberts is going to do the right thing. If he votes with the for liberals then we will see the report and I truly believe that Congress is going to expedite this all the way up to the Supreme Court as quickly as possible. It’s important for the American people to find out everything there is to know about the shenanigans during the 2016 election so they can make an informed decision in 2020.
John Dean, former White House counsel to President Nixon, speaks during a hearing on the nomination of federal appeals court judge Brett Kavanaugh to be an associate justice on the U.S. Supreme Court, in the Hart Senate Office Building on September 7, 2018 in Washington, D.C. Dean mocked Donald Trump in a tweet on Saturday, asking when was the last time the president read anything near 400 pages long. PHOTO: MARK WILSON/GETTY IMAGES
Having picked a completely partisan attorney General has been the biggest mistake that the present occupant of the White House has made. Sure he and his sycophants are doing victory dances all over social media and Fox News. The problem is we don’t know what is in the Mueller report. How can four pages of obviously redacted for content stand in the place of a 400-page report? Decant. There are sentences that were not even complete quotes from the report. And the report clearly state that it does not exonerate Trump from obstruction of justice charges. This report is going to become public and what it does this sugar high that the Republican party is on right now is going to taste very very bitter.
Never has in modern times a president hoped for the demise of a Supreme Court Justice. Can you imagine if President Obama had even suggested that he had a replacement for the chief justice? The Republican heads in Washington would have exploded in unison. They are packing the courts, the federal courts with what they said was their biggest problem with quartz, activist judges. Ruth bader Ginsburg is going nowhere and that this man has the audacity to say he’s already picked her replacement is beyond the pale. And judge Barrett has proven herself to be an anti-abortion zealot someone who will do everything in her power to overturn a woman’s right to control her own body. That’s going to sit well with 51% of the population, don’t you think?
As a member of the lgbtqi community I was intrigued by Peter Buttigieg’s presidential run early on. so I started following him closely. I saw posts by influential gays like David mixner on Instagram praising him. I saw snippets of interviews with him and he seemed quite credible. And then I got to watch the town hall meeting that made him look like a star. he had a grasp of the issues that the present occupant of the White House would only wish to have even with all of the presidential briefings. He has boots on the ground experience and two terms of duty in Afghanistan. He’s a Rhodes scholar, went to Harvard and as a lot of people like to say just happens to have a husband.
in 2004 I had a viewing party for the Democratic National Convention at my place. I watched with my friends President Obama make his now famous speech and afterwards I turned to my friends and said he’s going to be our next president. They left, I’m not used to my friends laughing at me when I’m making a serious remark.
Can Mayor Pete be the first yay person in the White House? I’m not sure but we need to give him a chance by putting him on the stageof the democratic debates and let him show how good he is to the rest of the country.
By the way I just got his email regarding his campaign fundraising totals. His average donation was $27.01. A penny more than Bernie Sanders.
Can you imagine the uproar from a Liz Cheney if we try to meddle in the Republican primary process. Their heads would explode.
Basically this tells us that there are afraid of the field that the Democrats are mounting to take on Trump in 2020. I think they are feeling the fact that there’s going to be a tidal wave, a blue tsunami that will change the political landscape. That’s why you see Mitch McConnell rushing unqualified activist judges on the federal bench. he is trying to fill every vacancy that he left open during President Obama’s presidency. Shame on Mitch McConnell and the Republicans.
Better Angels, an organization I belong to, says one should listen to the other side. I’m listening and I don’t like what I’m hearing.
If it wasn’t CPAC I would think they were all on drugs, on second thought maybe they are.
Between railing about the green New deal and how they’re going to take away our cheeseburgers, SUVs and for God’s sakes airplanes they had a clown come to the show.
Unfortunately the clown is the President of the United States.
They are so outside of the mainstream of American thought that it has become akin to going to a NRA convention. both organizations are outside of the mainstream of American soft, both organizations have people desperately clinging onto power for power’s sake and both organizations should be dismantled.
and there are people out there that are buying this Hook Line & sinker. I’ve got to put in a little word hear about Joe Biden’s comment that Mike Pence is a decent guy. to me it is indicative of the fact that Joe Biden should not be the nominee of the democratic party. Mike Pence is not a decent guy, Mike Pence hates the lgbtqi community and Mike Pence was in charge of the transition. You can tell me that the governor of Indiana comes to Washington and sees all these Russians running around and doesn’t ask a single question. It’s not believable and therefore it can’t be true.
