My meanderings about politics, LGBTQ COMMUNITY, space exploration, cars, cats, tech things and whatever else strikes my fancy. To the current occupant of the White House, we will not be taken into war on anyone's leash.
I’m old enough to remember in 1993 the Jack-in-the-Box e-coli disaster. E coli was found in hamburger meat sold by Jack in the box where 4 people died and 700 were made very sick. You cannot expect an industry to be its own watchdog. The rules are being made in the dark. USDA Inspectors have to have at least a 4 year degree. The new rules would allow people with high school education’s to inspect our foods. Employees are less likely to report problems to their company and fear of retaliation. This is dangerous and must not happen but if it does we will be reducing climate by not eating meat because it’s going to become dangerous.
Self inspections don’t work, ask Boeing.
From the NBC news article:
Still, advocates argue that even the remote possibility of a mistake could harm public health.
“We must keep food inspectors on the line to look for dangerous diseases and contamination,” Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., chair of the Congressional Food Safety Caucus, said in a statement, “not outsource this vital role to industry employees.”
This is most disturbing because Gallup is a Republicans leaning polling organization. but then of course why would Americans be proud of the United States under the current occupant of the White House?
we have a man in the oval Office who has lied over eleven thousand times since taking office. We have babies in cages we have little, children and their parents dead on the border, we snuggle up to dictators and ignore our allies, we are raping the land that feeds us, we have swamp creatures running every single one of our cabinet positions, we have a man who has obstructed Justice in the White House and yet he seems to have some weird fixation over hugging flags, only thing weirder is his fixation over his daughter Ivanka.
So no I am not proud of the United States right now. I love this country, something that my dad who was born on the 4th of July and instilled in me. I hope I’ll be able to be proud of my country again in my lifetime.
First I’m going to say who I thought lost. Beto O’Rourke not only look terrible but he seemed off his game. Why did he start off in Spanish? That could have been left to a later question or even his closing statement but it seemed out of place and pushy. Bill de Blasio is a great mare but as far as campaigning for president he was way too pushy and arrogant. Tulsi Gabbard is one of those one issue candidates who kept going on and on about her service which I respect wholeheartedly but it stopped what is the only thing that makes our president. I thought that her answer regarding the lgbtq community was lacking and saying that she was raised in a conservative household doesn’t cut it for me. Tim Ryan what’s also one of those one-issue candidates who kept talking about the fact that he could win in the rust belt.
I loved Jay Inslee’s answer about Trump. It didn’t feel rehearsed and it was accurate. Hunan Castro was very very good and poist and I think he made quite a good impression. Cory Booker was very good and he answered the questions directly. At the end of the day Elizabeth Warren was the one I thought that the best job. She was somewhat quieter in the second half of the debate but came in with a great opening and answer the questions.
When a moderator in a debate asks you a question it seems elusive that you don’t answer it directly. Why did Beto O’Rourke not answer the question about the income tax rate at 70% for the top 1%? Is he expecting to get money from these people? I thought he said he wasn’t going to accept money from these kind of people. As far as the rest of the field they were forgettable as right now I can’t even think about their names or remember their performances.
Chuck Todd was terrible and I’m hoping that the hierarchy NBC News sees that perhaps Rachel maddow should take over as the moderator of meet the Press.
Tomorrow night’s debate it’s going to be pivotal. This is the one that Joe Biden could fall flat on his face on and I’m looking forward to seeing what senator Kamala Harris can do on a stage the way she handles herself in front of those testifying in front of the Senate.
And as far as the present occupant of the White House, I think he’s the one who orchestrated all those glitches from his perch in Air Force One going over to do his report to his overlord Putin.
At the end of the day the American people are the winners tonight and the NRA is a big loser.
Li “Cindy” Yang and Donald J Trump, two peas in a pod. Scam artists United. One created a minor Empire with massage parlors across southern Florida the other created a minor Empire with fake real estate investments. One became president the other one sells access to that president. I think if the owner of the New England Patriots, Kraft, had not been arrested big one upper Paradise of Asia massage parlors perhaps this story would have never made the news.
Unfortunately for Trump and her it happened. Granted she doesn’t own the massage parlors anymore but the stain spreads very quickly.
I guess in 2016 Trump like saying that he was going to drain the swamp. He also said he was going to hire the best people. He doesn’t say that much any more does he? He truly has brought the best people to government, the best fraud artists, the best grifters, the best scam artist, truly has created a whole new swamp well systematically destroying our government and the environment where we all live.
This is pure speculation on my part. But after seeing the response to the dragon capsule docking with the space station one could see why Russia would want us back out of the space business.
These telescopes are opening up our universe for us and the present occupant of the White House would rather give trillions of dollars in tax cuts then keep us at the forefront of science. Shame on him.
Can you imagine the uproar from a Liz Cheney if we try to meddle in the Republican primary process. Their heads would explode.
Basically this tells us that there are afraid of the field that the Democrats are mounting to take on Trump in 2020. I think they are feeling the fact that there’s going to be a tidal wave, a blue tsunami that will change the political landscape. That’s why you see Mitch McConnell rushing unqualified activist judges on the federal bench. he is trying to fill every vacancy that he left open during President Obama’s presidency. Shame on Mitch McConnell and the Republicans.
Better Angels, an organization I belong to, says one should listen to the other side. I’m listening and I don’t like what I’m hearing.
If it wasn’t CPAC I would think they were all on drugs, on second thought maybe they are.
Between railing about the green New deal and how they’re going to take away our cheeseburgers, SUVs and for God’s sakes airplanes they had a clown come to the show.
Unfortunately the clown is the President of the United States.
They are so outside of the mainstream of American thought that it has become akin to going to a NRA convention. both organizations are outside of the mainstream of American soft, both organizations have people desperately clinging onto power for power’s sake and both organizations should be dismantled.
and there are people out there that are buying this Hook Line & sinker. I’ve got to put in a little word hear about Joe Biden’s comment that Mike Pence is a decent guy. to me it is indicative of the fact that Joe Biden should not be the nominee of the democratic party. Mike Pence is not a decent guy, Mike Pence hates the lgbtqi community and Mike Pence was in charge of the transition. You can tell me that the governor of Indiana comes to Washington and sees all these Russians running around and doesn’t ask a single question. It’s not believable and therefore it can’t be true.
Even though I was born in the last century actually in the middle of the last century I have never had to go out and hunt for my food. Since I was a child we would go into the store and find beautifully wrapped pieces of meat in the meat section of the store. So to me this notion that you needs guns for hunting is foreign.
So now we are facing another threat to the reason for having a gun. Beers that have been infected with a wasting disease. This wasting disease has not thankfully been transmitted to humans yet. I remember when AIDS was traced to African monkeys. Jumping across a species is not unknown for a predator virus.
So now I need to be convinced that guns are so necessary in our society. Really, what good are they other than to shoot other people? It makes no sense and what’s makes even less sense is why hunters and gun owners are so reluctant to be licensed just like we are driving a car. This idea that gun ownership is some an amiable right was true when the government could not fight back with more than a musket. Now the government can fight back with helicopters and weapons of mass destruction, what good would having a gun or rifle do against an armed government? None!
Me thinks not all is peachy on the Republican side of the Senate.
Chuck grassley is not one of my favorite people. Chuck Grassley understands what McConnell has just set off. This is much worse than what Chuck Schumer did when he change the rules in the senate for confirmations to a majority as opposed to a 60-vote needed. Chuck Grassley understands that there’s going to be a democratic presidents maybe in the near future. Chuck Grassley understands that this is a president that is going to be disastrous for the Republican Party. sure the Republicans cheat but when they do they open the door for others to do the same.
I look forward to a democratic Congress and President. But if there’s a Democratic president she can declare National emergencies for things that are actually National emergencies. Something like climate change or gun control.
This false emergency is a smoke screen to hide behind for the Trump Administration and all of the problems that is besieging them.
Paul Ryan has no legacy. This is supposed to be some math wizard what did they call him a policy wonk, no such thing, he’s a creature of politics. He hitched his wagon to Trump and now he is out on his own in Wisconsin. I wonder if he plans to run for president in 2020? What that be interesting?
