The Daily Beast: Senior State Adviser: Pompeo’s Silence on Yovanovitch Attacks Absolutely Killed Morale

I want to make one thing perfectly clear. If you are not following the state department’s downfall in the last 3 years you would not be aware that this is a calculated attempt to hollow out our ability to deal with foreign Nations. Steve bannon wants the state department to become toothless because an unstable state department will cause a weakening of the United States and will allow for someone like Trump, a would-be dictator To hold on to power. This was started with Secretary of State tillerson, an ExxonMobil executive, someone so close to Putin that it is believed Putin put his name into Trump’s ear as the nominee.

Now we have Pompeo, the man has really drank the Kool-Aid. First he went to the CIA and destroyed the morale there and now he is at the state department to do the same thing.

We don’t have ambassadors in so many countries that we don’t have the governmental memory necessary to deal with these countries. And now we’re watching State Department officials one-by-one resign because of their anger at how the state department is being run. when you lose someone who’s worked for 37, 42 or even longer years in the state department you don’t replace them with someone else, there is no one else to replace them. To add to the trouble at the state department is that applications to become foreign Service officers are down by two-thirds. people don’t trust our government to back our diplomats across the world. I remembered that being a diplomat was always one of my greatest desires but because I was very close to my parents I could not go to work in a foreign country. I did do translations at the UN in the summer from English to French and vice versa. To watch what is happening to foggy bottom is so disheartening. we have played into Putin’s hands so well that he might as well be the puppet master of our country.

This picture is the perfect metaphor for the hollowing out of our state department. There’s just no one to go to the podium.
