First and foremost let us not forget the victims of this weekend’s Carnage. The multitude of people they’ve left behind agreed and it’s going to take awhile for them to try to get their lives back honestly I don’t think they ever will.
Now to the politics of this. This weekend has been a boon for two people in my opinion. Trump benefits from the fact that although his statement was terrible his supporters are going to think that he did the right thing and looked, so-called presidential. Actuality he never really condemned white supremacist. He never said I cut them he says the nation must, a dog whistle to them. He never mentioned Latinos or Hispanics in this speech and I hate that has befallen them. He blamed a straw man, video games. It’s like the Republicans have these talking points and they know that thoughts and prayers has become unfortunately a cliche so now they’re using video games and mental illness. The real culprit are the assault weapons flooding our streets.
Trump fueled this killing spree and his going there is akin to an arsonist getting to go back to the scene of his crime. what Trump does with Trump does and he’s going to show up and do the most inappropriate things and his supporters will love him and those who don’t will it continue to despise him. I can’t hear his voice anymore, I prefer to be locked in a room with people scratching blackboards. On the plus side for Trump you haven’t heard the words Jeffrey Epstein, impeachment or Robert Mueller for a few days. And let’s not forget about the the ridiculous tariffs and trade war with China.
Beto O’Rourke is another one of those people that has benefited from this. And it’s not because it happened in his hometown, Tim Ryan is from Ohio and no one here’s anything about him. Tim Ryan suspended his campaign and to be honest I read that I hoped he had pulled out of the race. On the other hand Beto O’Rourke has been a great spokesman for his City, Texas and those who these terrorists have gunned down. He has been front and center all of the network coverage of this horrific event in El Paso. Is commentary wine above the normal rhetoric one hears and he truly made himself look good. I still wish he would run against cornyn senator up for taxes but that’s his decision to make.
There’s a lesson to be learned from this and all of these tragedies is that we need to make sure that those people we love know that and we always leave them with a smile on our face and no angry words because one never knows when we’ll see them again, if ever.
