My meanderings about politics, LGBTQ COMMUNITY, space exploration, cars, cats, tech things and whatever else strikes my fancy. To the current occupant of the White House, we will not be taken into war on anyone's leash.
I’ve never been part of the Apple ecosystem. I use Windows computers and Android phones. But in this case I am squarely in Tim Cook’s corner.
Tim Cook said that Apple sells Hardware not people’s data. Facebook not only sells people’s data but they are mercenary in their tactics. everything we’ve heard about Facebook and the last wheat makes it abundantly clear that it’s a bad player and needs to be thoroughly regulated it’s not broken into several smaller pieces. Mark Zuckerberg is the problem. He has ambitions to be President and is using his platform of 2.7 billion people to experiment on how to make his campaign work.
He said that Facebook was not aware of the Russians. But Facebook took payment in Russian currency for ads against Hillary Clinton. Who did he think that money was coming from? Mars?
November 11th 2017 was my D-day with Facebook. I left the platform and never looked back. I am a much happier person since I have not had Facebook in my life. grown accustomed to going to Instagram, another Facebook operation and when I saw it became too much a part of my life again I put the icon off of my desktop and have to go look for it in the myriad of icons in my app menu.
Regulation, regulation, regulation of Facebook!
I applaud Tim Cook an Apple for actually being mindful of their customer base. In the long run this is going to make apple stronger and more trusted in the eyes of everyday consumers.
This could not have happened to a more deserving evil corporation. Facebook is digging its own grave. Zuckerberg and his minions think they are the Masters of the universe, the problem most asked is whenever someone thinks they’re the master of the universe the universe strikes back. Is this case Apple strikes back. shutting down all the internals apps that Facebook employees used to communicate with each other a move as masterful as something Nancy Pelosi with do to Trump.
Today has been a bad news Day for Facebook. First Banks set off alarms because too many people were asking for chargebacks. Turns out Facebook sneered teenagers into thinking they were playing a game just for the cost of all of their internet data in fact they started charging the teenagers parents cards without giving any notice to anyone. Parents saw it on their bills started calling the banks and credit card companies and the chargebacks started. When a company has more than 1% in chargebacks in a month, alarms go off. Facebook had 5%!
This Insidious company that has tried to become the new Ma Bell, is finding itself on the same receiving end that AT&T did at the turn of the century. AT&T was broken up into lots and lots of smaller entities and I think Facebook is going to be facing the same state. It’s why Facebook is trine too quickly merge as many of these companies into one so that when they split up it will seem like the government has done its job. merging Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger into one unit does not mean that they should not be divided even more. This company has gotten too big and it is not too big to fail.
Moms and dads out there check your credit card statements. Turns out that Facebook is charging your credit cards and duping your kids into playing games that they believe are free.
don’t you have enough problems on your plate without Facebook? Yes I know Facebook is Insidious in our lives but it’s worth getting rid of it even though your kids will hate you for a little while.
itsfunneh getting off of drugs is difficult. Deactivating Facebook is made very difficult by its creator and they will tug at your heartstrings and tell you that you’re leaving friends and familybehind. I believe you have an instrument called a smart phone in your hand and you can call your friends and family or text if you’re not old school.
I deactivated my Facebook account in November of 2017. It was not easy. When I first started my blog, Facebook generated 90% of the traffic. Now after years my traffic is generated from the search engines.
On a more personal note, I never used Facebook to remind me of my close friends birthdays. They are in my calendar on my phone and backed up to the clouds. My account had over 1,500 friends and honestly I knew maybe three hundred of them. And of those 300 I would call 30 my friends. Facebook has very cleverly changed what are understanding of friends had been through the centuries. I have read article upon article about how Facebook uses and did this very much by Design our need to be liked. So each time somebody gets a like it sends endorphins into their brain and they get just a little more hooked. I like myself, maybe that’s narcissistic but I don’t think so. I truly believe you need to like yourself before you can know how to like others.
And as far as far definition of what a friend is here goes. When I was a little kid my dad told me a story that his dad told them and that he told me his dad had been told by his dad and that it went down Generations. A boy lives on a small village. He is asked about his father when he reaches his teens how many friends does he had. The boy responds I have so many I can’t count them. He asked his father how he had so few friends. His father responded friends are not just people you know but people who actually care deeply about you. He told his son to go and kill a lamb, yes I hate this part but it is somewhat biblical, and put it into a burlap bag. Go to your friends all of those friends that you said you had and tell them you have just killed a man and can they help you. The ones who don’t slam the door on your face are your friends. I’m not telling you that they’re going to go and help you with your crime by hiding the fact that you did it but rather help you through this horrible thing you had done. That’s what a friend is.
Can we really truly say that all of those people that’s what we now have as so-called friends on Facebook who do that for us, I don’t have to think about this my answer is no.
So if you want to follow what I did there are some simple steps. Find out which of your friends birthdays are important to you and put them in your calendar. Make sure you have all of those friends contact information. Then go to the Facebook help area and ask how to deactivate your account. Depending on your platform and the vice they will be different. They will try to tug at your heartstrings at this point. Don’t let them. And then they will ask why you’re doing this. And this is important because there are 15 reasons but the important one you should check is other. And explain in your own words how upset you are at them for having allowed another country to meddle in other countries elections. They have a responsibility to their 2 billion users and they are failing miserably at it. Congressional leaders last week came out of hearings with Facebook and in a bipartisan scream that’s Facebook transparency and gave them ways of fixing what Facebook does. I have a simple way to stop at least some of what Russian does. Don’t accept rubles for political ads in another country. I don’t think that’s takes a rocket scientist to figure out. And I think Russia has a few rocket scientist on hand. And yes, Russia will find ways around this but that’s what they have something called algorithms add Facebook to circumvent.
Facebook will never change unless we force them to. I have a feeling that 2016 once a dress rehearsal for how Mark Zuckerberg plans to become president and either 2020 or 2024 depending on the political winds. That might seem harsh but think about it. You don’t see Google doing what Facebook did. First Google is a search engine and yes they have a duty to remove news that is false and opinions that are inappropriate but that’s not what Facebook is. Twitter gets literally hundreds of millions of tweets each day and again that’s not what Facebook does. I am not saying that Google and Twitter are without blame but to me in comparison with what Facebook did it’s something that they have announced they will fix and I believe them. And also neither Twitter on Google has a name like Mark Zuckerberg that everyone knows as their founders. Yes some people know who started Google and Twitter but it’s not as universal as Mark Zuckerberg.
President Trump during the campaign said that the United States would be tired of all the winning that he would bring to the country. I am tired but it’s not because of the winning it’s because of all the losing. We put money out to these corporations and then one after the other day back down but keep the money. how about the carrier plant that he talked so much about when he was in transition. or the Ford factory, there’s no point in my going on and on.
He’s a terrible deal maker and everyone knows it except for him. Maybe he does know it and maybe Seth Meyers has something when he does that sticks about the small voice of insecurity in Trump’s head.
I’ve been a resident of the city of Los Angeles for the last 18 years. so I seen a couple of mares come and go but not as good as Eric Garcetti. I have seen tangible changes in our city since he has become mayor. I think he would be a great president but I’m pleased that he’s remaining in Los Angeles as our mayor.
I watched Mayor Garcetti walk the picket lines and marches with our teachers and eventually he helped to broker the deal that ended the teacher strike and car are schools open and on a better path.
What happened to Stephen Miller that makes him hate people so much? this is the kind of thinking that created at off Hitler. His rabbi did a sermon calling him a terrible person. does he not realize that’s somewhere down the line his family were immigrants? For some reason Miller doesn’t sound like a native American name.
If you’re like me, and I hope you are, you have been watching SNL almost all your life. So she did you may have seen this little bit from Michael Che talking about Rodger Stone asking black men to bang his wife. this is from the guy who’s been was Roy Cohn who was not gay just like having sex with men. Being a gay man, that sounds very gay to me. All that being said Rodger stone is a freak and if anybody thinks otherwise, I don’t know about you.
Mike Pence is a hypocrite. He says he was a Christian but he hates people. I’m not an expert on Christianity but I know that Christ did not hit people.
Further Mike Pence as far as I’m concerned is a traitor. He was in charge of the transition and never said anything about the dozens and dozens and dozens of Russian who were mingling around the Trump campaign and then the Trump transition. You didn’t say anything about the hundreds of Russians who came to the Trump inaugural. Even if he did nothing wrong he was complicit and that’s just as bad.
5 years ago a friend of mine, Iain McDonald, suggested I start a blog. He said that he had read all my stuff on Facebook and thought that’s I should have my own platform. I am very grateful for that thought from him.
Sure this is a vanity blog and I stopped allowing advertising on it a year ago. But it allows me to say how I feel about issues of the day and it does not promote what happens on Twitter and Facebook when you disagree with someone. I no longer use Facebook as I have said so many times on this platform and the block has been my outlet and for that I am very grateful.
For those of you who read this on a regular basis, I thank you.
There is a very Fringe theory out there that we are all living in a giant simulation created by the Masters of the universe I guess, just like The Sims video game. It goes on to say that the pixels that we see in television screens and computer screens are actually a representation of our atoms. all that aside, if it’s true, they sure are playing with our heads.
memories of Watergate and it’s incredibly slow progression to the resignation of Nixon. All of the same arguments I’m hearing today were said in those days. Republicans stood by their man until their man was drowning and was about to take them down. But the turning point, and this is not an opinion it’s a fact, was the testimony of John Dean. If you look at a glass of President Nixon’s approval ratings right before John Dean testimony he was at 41%, sounds familiar? Pastor John Dean’s testimony live happens over the next year down to a 21% approval rating and I’d that point Republicans jumped ship.
So all the pundits out there giving their opinions is the only difference between now and Watergate. people may not remember but the evening news was only 15 minutes back then. It was expanded to a half-hour because of Watergate. And other than newspapers magazines it was very few other places one could get fresh information on what was happening. And then the hearing started and I like all of America were focus like a laser beam on the testimony of the various witnesses. In the end we all saw that Nixon was a crook, wire, and not a very nice man.
And then there’s the tapes. Nixon, I’m sure to his chagrin until his death, decided it would be a good idea to record everything that happened in the Oval Office. when people found out about the tapes they subpoenaed them and we waited, and waited, and waited and finally Supreme Court said turn over the fence. When the White House turned over to Pace there was the famous 18 minutes gas in the most relevant conversation in the Oval Office regarding Watergate. That was clearly seen as obstruction of justice. Nixon went down after that.
So here we are in 2019 reliving the nightmare of Watergate except this time we have 24 hours a day coverage of it hands a public spectacle by a man who has no regard for the office that he holds. I never liked Nixon, I remember the day that’s his victory was announced. I was in a classroom and Jane long Jr high School in Houston Texas. The boat was closed and the final outcome did not come until around 9 in the morning Houston time. And the announcement was made over the loudspeakers and you could hear a groan in the middle of the class. Texas was different back then. George h bush was our congressman, and my dad hated him. there was some civility in the discourse and our Representatives knew that they were working for the people. Today it seems that everyone is only catering to their base and not to the population they represent. I hope the pendulum swings and we come back to an error civility and our country’s government.
To get there we need the resignation or impeachment of Donald Trump and then we need to heal. I’m a member of an organization called better Angels, if you’re not you should become a member for their $10 fee. They are trying to bridge the size between the red and the blue and hopefully one day we’ll be back to being a purple or the Kaleidoscope of colors that we are.
