Gwen Ifill would be very proud of this reporting by the PBS NewsHour. It shows why we must get rid of this Vestige called The Electoral College. At least the appendix doesn’t do anything unless it gets infected. This peace of history that we use to elect our presidents has lost the election for four people who had won the popular vote. And now it seems that it was all so that slave owners would not worry that slaves would be able to vote and was a way of appeasing the South.

The History of the United States is tarred by it’s love of slavery until the Civil War. And yet the vestiges of slavery remain. Confederate flags are part of many states flags and we have statues built as late as the 60s and 70s glorifying traitors to the union also known as Confederates.

It’s time for a constitutional amendment to remove the Electoral College. The grand old party loves to wrap itself in the Constitution well now it’s time for them to remove this part that is tainting our electoral process.
