I like to call myself a second generation geek. My dad took me to opening they showings of 2001-A Space Odyssey and we watched lost in space than Star Trek and then next generation together.
So when it was announced that The Force Awakens was going to be released I wanted to see it in the best venue possible. That turns out to be the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. This is Disney’s flagship theater and for this movie they install some great upgrades.
As you walk into the theater lobby you notice life-sized Lego statues of the two characters in the movie.

I ordered the tickets a couple of months ago and picked seats smack in the middle of the orchestra. I was excited when the Theatre went dark and was treated to a demonstration of what Dolby vision does for the movie going experience. Blacks are truly black and there is almost a 3D effects to that.
Then the familiar sound of laser cutting through material play through the speakers in the theatre and Laser started appearing all over the theater. Then lightsabers appeared on the balconies and on the main stage and there was this choreographed ballet of robotic lightsaber fights that lasted about 5 minutes. It includes pyrotechnics, smoke, and some of the best lasers I’ve ever seen.
Then the movie started and I’ll let you see it without giving you any commentary on its rather just to say it’s worthwhile and JJ Abrams did an incredible job. So no spoilers here.
When you leave the theater your invited to go down into the lower lobby where they have set up an exhibit of the movies memorabilia.

There you will find stills from the movie, costumes and other memorabilia. For Star Wars fans this is an exciting place to be.

Luke Skywalker's lightsaber

If you live in the Los Angeles area are planning to come out to visit I urge you to see Star Wars at this venue. If you seen it before it’s worth going there again and seeing it the way that JJ Abrams wanted you to. Congratulations to Disney and to the whole team that put together this movie as it is truly following in the steps of how the Star Wars saga should continue. There will be a new Star Wars installment released each year until 2020.
This is definitely a movie you should come to see with her friends and I was very fortunate to have my friend David Randall share in the experience.
