Perhaps it’s time to stop using the Hastert Rule

Now that former Speaker of the House  Hastert has been indicted for multiple counts of fraud, perhaps it is time for the Speaker of the House to stop invoking the Hastert Rule.  The Hestert rule says that the Speaker of the House must count the votes within his or her caucus before a bill comes in front of the House of Representatives. This is in theory to avoid embarrassment by having a vote defeated. In actuality, its made for a Congress that has the lowest approval rating of any Congress and that has the least amount of bills passed. Now that this man has been discredited perhaps it’s time for us to also stop using that rule in Congress, just saying.
