John Nash, ‘A Beautiful Mind’ inspiration, and wife die in N.J. car crash

How sad to hear this news. He had a great mind that’s sometimes played tricks on him.

Thieves In California Now Targeting Toyota Prius For Its Battery Pack

It seems that battery pack replacement for Prius models is relatively rare. They are covered by a 100,000 mile or 8 year warranty. but just in case the worst happens here is what green cars not come has to offer:
Should worst come to worst and your battery need replacement, there’s one final silver lining from Toyota, known as “core credit”.

This is a sum deducted from the new battery pack MSRP for returning the old battery to be recycled. That’s not only better for the environment than the battery being thrown away when it gets replaced, but in a car like the Prius, it reduces the cost of a new battery by around a third.

The only additional cost is that of labor, which varies between cars, and labor rates which vary depending on where you live.

Good to know. Stay green,

Don’t Wait Until the School Year Ends to Recognize Teachers

Truer words could not have been said. Each one of us was touched by that special teacher or teachers in our lives. They get so little credit for the hard work they put in, the hours that are not paid for, and the lack of resources that’s has been an epidemic in the last decade in our schools. Let’s take this opportunity as a reason to call our congressman and senators and tell them to increase budgets for schools. We are falling behind the rest of the world, but it’s certainly not because of the teachers not doing their jobs.  this is because the teachers are not getting the tools they so need to shape the minds of our youth.

Solar space sails are real, and Bill Nye and Neil deGrasse Tyson are stoked

This is your chance to help the future come a little quicker. The Planetary Society has set up a crowdfunding account to get the final costs of the solar sail so that it can be launched and the concept proven. What’s amazing about the solar sails is that once deployed the Sun Light hitting them accelerates them continuously. They start off very slow but never stop accelerating and will reach planets much quicker than what we’re using right now which are chemical rockets.
Watch the video, get stoked and make a small donation for the future of our planet.

Boy Scouts’ President Calls for End to Ban on Gay Leaders

In a day where marriage equality has spread to 37 States this blanket attack on adult gay Boy Scout leaders was reprehensible. I applaud former Secretary of Defense gates for his vision and for understanding that’s the Boy Scouts of America would not survive with this policy left in place.

GM to invest $439M in Corvette plant

When the 2014 Corvette came out, MotorWeek a show on PBS, said it was the best car ever tested by the show and it’s 31 years of being on the air . It puts to shame cars costing four and five times the price of a Corvette. I am so pleased to see that GM understands how important the Corvette is to their image and lineage. Live long and prosper Corvette.
